High Speed Connection

I will be doing my first trip to India in April and was wondering about a high speed connection for my computer. Since I'm not staying in a hotel, how hard is it to get a connection for my computer. Will be visiting Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra.

It'll be hard unless you know exactly where to go. The internet cafes that do have high-speed internet in DEL have generally been very loathe to permit laptops to connect to their network. There may be some wireless hotspots available to the general public.

Even in the nicest neighborhoods in DEL I almost never find a wireless network signal while driving around so that's not a great option.

One option you may have if not staying in a hotel is to go to a hotel business center anyway and plug in there for a bit. But it'll be priced like a hotel business center.

I just asked someone and apparently Pizza Corner and Coffee World retail outlets are supposed to be rolling out wireless internet at some spots over the course of this year and the next few.

I was also supplied with this useful link:

http://www.jiwire.com/browse-hotspot...hi-3453153.htm

and the Barista coffee shops have some that are equipped too, but it seems that Cafe Coffee Day is the retail outlet in DEL that has the highest probability of having a wifi internet connection available. (I don't think I have ever been to a Cafe Coffee Day in DEL. )

With the advent of cheaper broadband connections available for private use, lots of private homes are installing WLANs. My parents house in calcutta has two networks in the vicinity which are open to access. Sadly one has become encrypted since my mother bragged to the neighbour that I used his network while visiting...
