Bangalore

Hi, I am visiting my gf in bangalore on march. I heard/read much about bangalore on internet, this will be my first time going there and I am quite anxious and nervous about it.

I have pre-booked/paid for my hotel through agoda and have my visa and air tickets sorted out.

Is it better to take hotel's cab for transfer from airport to hotel or take a taxi? Cause hotel's cab is more expensive, however I am worried about being overcharged/con by the taxi driver as I am not very familiar with Bangalore/India.

What will be the weather be like on mid-March? I will be there for 6 days, any place to visit/things to do that you guys would suggest?

Can someone please advice me on what should I know about traveling in Bangalore, the do's and don'ts, places to visit, foods to eat etc. Your help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Use the Radio Cabs in BLR airport - They are cheaper then the Hotel Cabs, Efficient and Has GPS tracking etc.

Check http://www.merucabs.com/fares/ and Google Maps to calculate the Estimated fare. You can compare with the quote from hotel and decide.

It should be pleasant. Early Summer in India. For Places to visit out of town, you can try Coorg (Hills) or Hubli (Ancient temples). For In town recommendations, there are BLR based FTers who can give better suggestions.

as whizkid suggested above, the radio cabs & meru cabs are a good idea....this morning i took a meru cab from the blr airport to my hotel in whitefield....it cost me inr 880....the hotel was quoting inr 2,700 + tax....

Hi all, thanks for all the information. I did found out that radio cabs and meru cabs are indeed cheaper than hotel's cab. I will probably use them.

Have anyone tried before Monarch Luxur Hotel that is located at infantry road?

I've checked. It's mostly good reviews but i just want to get more information if it is available .

Anyone know is it possible to get a sim-pack(starter pack) for a foreigner? I want to use the data for my iphone, I heard it's quite hard and requires many documents to buy one simcard?

Good luck getting a SIM card. I had all sorts of problems trying to have my hotel get me one about 15 months ago in Bangalore. That said, I am currently in Mumbai and somehow my hotel got me one in less than an hour last week. Seriously, less than an hour.

As for food / drinks - can't go wrong with UB city.
