taj mahal

is it physically possible to get to the Taj Mahal and back to Delhi by noon?
Like if I leave at 6am, drive/train there, see it for an hour- then head back to the airport for a 13:40 flight?
if so, how...and driver details please? or is the train the fastest?
thanks!

No. The drive is at least 3 hours each way. Why don't you drive to Agra the previous night, spend the night there and head back early the next morning.

Also, if you can afford it, I'm sure there are helicopter services from Delhi to Agra.

don't risk it....the drive is about 3 hours but its taken me as long as 6 hours as well due to traffic....

& if you are going to see the taj mahal then you must see the fatehpur sikhiri as well....it cannot be done in an hour....

No, even if you can drive each way in 2 hrs (not gonna happen, just did this trip last month) -- it takes more than an hour to "see" the Taj. About 2 hours for us from the time we got to the ticket office to back in the car. And we spent very little time on the grounds since it was about 115 that day.

Agree that you should at least get to Agra the night before, and maybe see the Taj at night if it's around the full moon.

Still a very ambitious trip.

The time is too short to even contemplate a mileage run, let alone actually paying a visit to the monument. It's about 250Km to Agra from Delhi, a little less from the airport. You never know what kind of traffic you might come across. It took me over an hour and a half from NOIDA (East Delhi) to Gurgaon, a city near the airport less than a quarter of the distance to Agra) on a holiday.

Haha. You should've taken the Metro, at least to IGI. Our trips from Noida to New Delhi on the Metro were the most efficient parts of our vacation last month.

Hopefully it will take a shorter time to get to Agra when the Yamuna Expwy opens up shortly. Too many small towns (and bottlenecks) on the Delhi-Agra "highway" now.
