Using chennai much - even if you dont live there .. well, its a great airport to connect through because its tiny. You dont need to spend all that much time there if you can help it.

I flew biz class on BA from MAA to LHR a few weeks ago and was given lounge access. The lounge wasn't all that great; they did offer lukewarm Kingfisher in a bottle. The lounge was located before the security checkpoint and other than watching IPL Cricket highlights and drinking lukewarm Kingfisher there wasn't much to offer. I don't think that I would pay for access to the lounge if it wasn't offered free..

There are three lounges. If you go into the clipper lounge (that is to the left of the main corridor) it is crap. You want the meridien or the maharaja lounges. Not sure if the bica lounge is still around .. but that's classy too.

Yes, Maharaja lounge was pretty decent. They had little samosas, sandwiches, hot tea/coffee (on order).
Is Meridien the first lounge on the right as soon as you climb the stairs to go to the security level (after clearing passport control)? Whichever one that was...it was not as good as Maharaja.

Yes - meridien is the first lounge on the right. Its been refurbished recently (about a year or so back) - looks like a lounge bar now. The bica's been designed from the ground up as a lounge / resto bar .. its to the right of the entrance to the security hold area - you know the main corridor continues on for a bit there, past security, right? There's some seedy little dutyfree shop opposite it (and that dutyfree shop is bang opposite the security hold).

Ah thanks. So, I was in the Meridien lounge 3 years ago or something. It was not good at all. There was literally nothing exciting about it.

And then, as I walked to security, I saw "Bica" right past the security line. And I remembered my lounge card had said Bica lounge....I dont know why i went in to the meridien.
Anyways, it was too late to visit the Bica.

Next time I am around, will check it out if I qualify for lounge access.
BTW, what lounge do LH C pax access at MAA?

Keeps varying. I've been mostly put into the Meridien or the Maharaja - sometimes even the [censored] Clipper. A fully loaded 343 has enough J / Status pax that you can't stick them all in one single lounge, so LH tends to spread the load around somewhat.

The Bica is newer and more expensive so kind of a last resort I guess.

Note - all 4 lounges are contract lounges for every single international airline in MAA, all 4 are rather small.

Lounge access at Chennai

Flying out from MAA tonight, any idea if there are any new *G lounges at the airport? Or still just the 4 contract ones?

Thanks

Checked out the Meridien and it was pretty pathetic, I actually got a card that said Clipper, so ended up in that one instead. Not the best, but didn't remember the Bica was after security, and since my card said clipper I wasn't sure I'd be able to get in to the other one...

At least I got what I needed. A comfy couch and Internet connectivity with free crappy drinks

Lounge Access in Chennai

Do United BusinessFirst passengers / United Club members have access to any lounge in Chennai?

I used to remember there being a small room in the Chennai airport, but I could be mistaken.

Thanks.

Wirelessly posted (BB Curve: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.3.4; en-us; T-Mobile G2 Build/GRJ22) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

BF and *G have access but it is pretty crappy... it is not even on the level of domestic RCC's. Maybe a couple of hot foods but that's about it. Do a search on Chenna *A lounges and you'll find some posts.

UA does not fly from MAA, unless you are referring to a code share LH.

Best if you ask this on the India forum.
