Earning miles on AA from 9W

Earning miles on AA from 9W
I am flying AA from ORD to BRU in Y and then by 9W to MAA in V class. From what I have read so far I can not get any AA miles for the BRU-MAA sector on 9W. In that case will I be better off to get Jet miles for the entire trip from ORD to MAA. Any suggestions?

If you can't get AA miles, by all means get Jet miles. Nothing to lose.
However, for future reference, in such itineraries you should be able to book the connecting flight (9W) as code-share with AA flight number. That would have earned AA miles.
