Status Matching

I am a Thai Airways "Royal Orchid Plus" Gold member.

I e-mailed Jet Privilege customer services, with a request to consider status matching me. They replied within a few days and asked me to e-mail a scanned copy of my R.O.P. gold card, which I did.

I have just received My Jet Privilege Gold Card but without upgrade vouchers, which they explained in their correspondence.

Very easy, anyone can do it!

Thank you Jet Airways.

When you did status match, do you lost your current TG ROP gold status?

No, you would not.

However, doing a status match is only worthwhile if you plan to *fly* on board 9w - their current a/c to/from BKK are only 73w's, which are not at all comfortable as compared to TG's Airbuses in Y...

They aren't too bad - and they do have IFE rather than the old fashioned central screen TG has. You get much tastier (thai!) food on TG though.

i don't think you would need copies of the email....just email them letting them know where you have status & that you would like to get a tier match....

Does anybody know how long the whole process takes?

I emailed them asking for a status match Monday. They emailed back Tuesday asking for scans of card and statement copy. Emailed them those Tuesday. Now waiting for a reply.

I am asking because I have to fly on 26th feb and will only fly 9W if I have status else might go with KF or AI ()

IMHO, they replied to u asking for docs in 1 day and that is quite fast from my experience with them..

You mean 9W will match IT status as well? I know it used to work the other way round when IT started - but if this works, then it'd be news for me.

Easiest way to get 9W and IT Gold then would be to get the AMEX card, getting you IT gold, and then ask 9W to match. Sounds too good to be true.

No, both IT and 9W while considering a status match will want to see your frequent travel history with the other airlines. Hence, just obtaining the gold status wont help with IT, one also needs to show considerable history (usually for 6 months or 1 year)
