I think you missed the point! :D

Say the two airport codes mentioned by Mr Bean out aloud (ideally not in front of too many people!) and you should get the idea... ;)

Don't forget Varig...

And BMI, kinda sorta. Lufthansa are just smarter in deciding to sell, rather than watch them croak. :p

Like I said above, if the financial situation of the individual members is the criteria to determine which alliance has better acumen and which one is clueless, then Skyteam come up winners. Delta and Alitalia and Air France and Northwest may have all been in a precarious situation at one point or another, but none of the Skyteam members have gone and died.

Sorry to go off topic, but does anyone know what TINA is

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/...62.cms?curpg=1

I have read that article and still don't understand what "TINA", which is referred to in the headline, actually means?

The gossip among lessors is that any remaining assets in India should be out of the country by midnight on March 27th.

Not many airworthy leased airframes still in India though. I was at Sabiha Gocken in Istanbul last week and one could be forgiven for thinking it was Bangalore with the number of Kingfisher Airbuses parked.

I think the network would have made sense with a fleet of A345/332/380 and a decent connecting hub etc, after all there was a business plan that made the banks give out money. The mistake was the mismanagement. They clearly copied Virgin Atlantic in terms of the amenities, but bitterly failed in the yield management. The 2008 Lehman crisis which did hit India with a time lag did them in. As Warren Buffett said: 'When the economic tide goes out, you find out who is swimming naked'

Pipe dream does not make a business plan. We all know what happened to dreams dreamt by the famous Sheikh.

I've heard the same thing a few times over the last few days...

Considering that 3 aircraft have been repo'd (that I know of) in the last few hours, it wouldn't surprise me at all if this is true. And of course, no planes = no Kingfisher. Looks like the end is in sight.

However, I can see oneworld having looked at them as nothing more than a subservient little feeder to help out the other members at BOM & DEL with feed from the likes of Ahmedabad and Kathmandu.

Even if they remained a joke, they could have played that role well.

On the contrary, IT was taken quite seriously by more than a members of this forum, whose dreams were as grand as those of the owner, SFO-BLR nonstop to name one.

MUMBAI: Debt-laden Kingfisher Airlines has terminated operations to 28 of its 56 destinations over the past two days, making at least 40-50% staff redundant.

The decision to shut these centres comes amid strong speculation that Kingfisher would come up with a revival plan on Tuesday and name the investor willing to pump funds into the cash-starved airline. However, the company just said it intends to recapitalise the airline fully, without sharing more details. The Kingfisher share plummeted to a new low of 16.50 on BSE on Tuesday, losing 1.49% of its value.

Glad I'm not the only who knows about

Could be a game changer much like FLAG.*

But we would still need flights to Australia, Antarctica and all the islands strewn about?
