A blast from the past! Anyone else wants to make predictions?
The prize has now been set at the 52K KingClub miles i have (if anyone else wishes to donate to the prize fund, please PM me!). They will be donated to the person who predicts the correct (or at least the nearest date for the shutdown). Those of you who entered previously will be given a one off change of date prediction. |

Personally I think the guy is great and has set up one heck of a good airline.
I think someone will be rushing to edit this statement after his trip report this past week! :D |

April 8th 2012
What with 31st March being the End of Financial Year in India, I give them at best another week after that to cease operations. |

I think we will have an airline run (in the sense of a bank run: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_run). Passengers will just stop buying IT tickets since they fear IT will not be around long enough to honor their ticket. This drop in revenue will worsen the already low cash balances IT has and force them to bail on their payments to suppliers. My guess is that this downward spiral will force IT to cease operations by the end of the month.

I meant that the run will happen to such an extent that the company will shut down. As of now, it's still up and running. Well, maybe it's hobbling, not running. But it hasn't yet been shut down. And people are still buying tickets for IT flights (like our very own Punjabi007).

I'll go for the 9th of April, 2012

The run already happened - how else do you think they managed to default on the BSP?
However, the simple fact that the Government entities have frozen the accounts put them in a very bad position - how can anyone survive, let alone run an airline - if one's bank accounts have been frozen?? There should have been some Govt-imposed arbitrator who would have managed the funds/accounts, so that Kingfisher wouldn't be in the state that it is in now! |

Although the planes are not going empty. I am aware many are still using them. They are flying with atleast 80% load on major routes. I dont understand where the money they earn is going though and how do they manage to fly and pay for fuel and airport charges atleast if not in India then abroad?? But yes today if you ask me if I would fly with them on a new ticket... NOPE! |
