Good Evening Everyone, I redeemed a reward flight today.. EWR to AMS to BOM via Delta Airlines and I purchased a ticket for 9W for the domestic sector BOM to AMD . The Delta rep told me my bags would go direct to AMD because Delta has a baggage and ticket agreement 9W.. has anyone heard of this.. I don't want land in AMD anf my baggage has not arrived. Both ticket are linked with each other.. has anyone experienced this or heard about this?

Even if DL tags your baggage through to AMD (and they probably won't), it will still come off the belt in BOM so that you can clear customs there. You'll claim your baggage and clear customs, then head to the 9W check-in desk (in the int'l terminal), give them your luggage, and check-in for the domestic sector. Then, you'll board the bus for the domestic terminal. Or, you can just take your luggage on the bus to the domestic terminal. But, there is no way for your luggage to get through BOM without you claiming it and taking it through customs.

delta will tag your bags so that you don't have to get another tag at bom, but you will have to collect your luggage when you land in bom & take them over to the domestic terminal yourself....

Now I'm confused, I have to check them in again in BOM in the International airport section and the domestic section as well? Then what good is the Interim policy between Jet Airways & Delta? I knew I should have purchased
a flight on AI nonstop from EWR to BOM and continuing to AMD instead.

You misread "sector" as "section". You'll go to the 9W desk in the International terminal, and check-in for the domestic flight. Then, you'll go by bus to the domestic terminal, but you won't need to complete any check-in formalities there. You just pass through security and to the gate.

If you'd rather check-in at the domestic terminal, you can ride the bus to that terminal and check-in there.

Three hours is a comfortable amount of time to do this, though you could maybe do it in 1.5 hours if things went well.

Yes, the AI one-stops (where you don't clear customs until your final destination) are easier.
