AI vs EK

Need some advice on AI versus EK

Costs For my flight in F between BOM - JFK this Nov

AI INR 490,220.00 Non-stop
EK INR 395,993.00 1 stop in DXB but on the A380

Which product and service is better? The cheaper EK fare is tempting and it's on the A380 in F but how does the AI non-stop service/benefits compare with EK's?

Joe,

I don't fly much with AI, but IMHO EK service is far better. Also DXB - JFK in F if EK is using the A380 (check this thread for more ) will be private suites

As much as I love AI's First Class, there's no way I would miss the oppty to fly EK's First Class in the A380!

I don't have experience with First in either airline..but it would seem like EK would be the obvious choice (based on other reviews I've read) given the private suites on DXB-JFK ...and AI is prone to delays...

Are you kidding me? i know AI has improved and the First is decent on the 777's. But there is no way that you can compare F on EK with F on AI. Espically since you will be flying the A380 for the Long Haul.

Save money and go with EK.

AI BOM-JFK is a 777LR and the F service is excellent. The flight is on time and there are no delays.

EK A 380 in F is in a private suite. If you don't mind the transit in DXB go for EK.

Thanks for your reply

From the pictures, AI F looks to be bigger and roomier than EK's F ...

First Class ... is in a cabin by itself
Do they mean the mini-cabins like EK or just the forward F only cabin ?

At a substantially lower price (albeit I selected random dates) Etihad *may* be an option for you:

$5707USDselect Etihad Airways
BOM 11:00p
JFK 11:05a

JFK 8:30a
BOM 3:00p

1st (19h 00m)1
1st (18h 25m)1

This trip is actually being paid for by my work , They suggested AI thinking that it's 1 stop so it'll quicker but our travel agent left the choice upto to me ..... which is why i was tempted to try AI

Thanks HopWise but I've done Etihad so ruled that option out for this trip.

EK hands down over AI, AI still has to reach that high level of customer service and professionalism that EK has. Sure EK's standards may have slipped a little over the years, but they still beat AI in my opinion. QR(Qatar Airways) isn't bad either, i flew them from IAH-DOH this past March and though it was comparable to EK. I belive QR now flies JFK-DOH.
