Upgrade at check in on AI
Hi:
Do AI offer any last minute upgrades at check in from coach to biz. I am flying NYC - DEL in october. Any advice would be great.
It's my first time to India.

I believe chances are very slim. I never fly AI, but went to drop off a friend who was flying EWR-BOM and he got bumped off. As a lawyer from India, he tried convincing them to upgrade him next day, but no luck. Someone who claimed to be the daughter of one of the directors (or some big wig) of AI was also flying coach and she told us that it is AI policy to never upgrade... and if she wasnt getting an upgrade after the check-in agent had spoken with her dad about not being able to accommodate her on the overbooked flight there was no way my friend would.
FWIW, he did apply and get compensated for the delay, but no upgrade. The terrible behavior of the ground staff made me swear I will NEVER fly AI anytime soon.
