Air India VT-ALD delivery flight

Flightaware indicates that VT-ALD flew PAE-CDG on her delivery flight. Earlier 777 delivery flights, as I recall, made the trip non-stop to India. Anyone know why ALD did differently?

The original plan was to run it as an extra section revenue flight from CDG to take advantage of the peak season traffic, but I'm not sure if that went ahead as planned.

Most of AI's 747s were delivered as revenue services.

ESN was delivered to LHR (Nov 93), ESO was delivered to YYZ (Dec 93), ESP was delivered to JFK (Jun 94), etc...
