9W and Seat Assignment

Hello
I came to know one more most annoying thing , not sure if this is common practice for Indian market
I was told that in 3-3 aircraft , all the middle seat are free and can be assigned at the time of booking , but if you want aisle or window , you need to pay for that ( approx $5 for each sector and i have 5 AMD-BOM-BLR-TRV and TRV-BOM-AMD )
Also i was told, this is still the same case at the time of check-in at the airport
If this is true , i guess it is worse than some of the LCC from Europe and around the world.

Any comments / insight ?

Thanks

Yes most Indian carriers now make you pay for advance seat assignment.

I don't think the part about charging at airport check-in is right. If there are seats open at that time, then the staff always give them to you if you ask.

haven't flown on 9w domestic for a while so can't comment on their policies but ai lets you chose your seats for free (except for exit rows)....also, at check-in they give you the exit rows for free if you ask for those seats....

Jet doesnt charge extra for exit rows - either during web checkin or at counter - atleast for domestic flights.

Indeed, snagging 'that' seat on a 737-900ER during web check-in is a treat for those who have flown it

i would be surprised if anyone is paying extra for the exit row with ai as well....they are always empty & free to choose during check-in....

You mean check-in at the airport counter, correct? EF shows bulkheads and exit rows as empty, but AI, during web-check in shows 'em as occupied!?

On another note, just paid for an airport upgrade to Business (Class shows on the ticket as 'Business-C', but fare basis shows as 'L')...any idea on how the miles will be credited? I meant, for 'C' class or according to the fare basis, 'L'? Thanks!

correct....ai will always show them as occupied because they don't allow you to select those seats....but they are always available when you are checking in at the airport....

miles will be credited as per your original booking class so 'l' in this instance....
