I wonder what KYC they are going to do for members based outside India

And it's not like they have a reliable system to validate the authenticity of documents submitted. Even for documents issued within India, not all of them are easily verifiable as legitimate from afar.

Perhaps their plan is to store this info so they have something against which to counter-check when there are doubts about account member authorization for a redemption?

This kind of info -- at least in other markets -- can be an identity thief's dream.

Verification is still pending and its been more than 72 hours.

Air India website shows my status as Gold but the loyalty program website shows my status as Silver. Has anyone else noticed this issue?

So my status shows Verified now somehow. I looked at few routes. They have increased redemption rates much more than Jet. For Ex -

BLR-DEL -
AI - 13.5K in Y and 27K in J
Jet - 12K in Y and 24K in J

DEL-LHR -
AI - 50K in Y and 100K in J
Jet - 42.5K in Y and 85K in J

DEL-HKG -
AI - 35K in Y and 70K in J
Jet - 30K in Y and 60K in J

Finally "Verified" and apart from bloated international redemption requirements and removal of YQ, Miles for some of the domestic sectors have indeed gone down - for e.g AMD to DEL from 7500 to 5500

Other thing I noticed is the same MILE requirements for REDEMPTION even for connecting flights.

Earlier: AMD-DEL was priced at 7500 miles where as a connecting flight via BOM was priced at 4500 for AMD-BOM and 9500 for BOM-DEL so a total of 14000 miles.

Now: Even the connecting flights are priced at 5500 miles.

Conclusion: Is it that at least for "DOMESTIC" point to point award pricing is gone?

Can anybody check for the INTERNATIONAL too?

PNQ - ORD (or other US cities) now priced at 85000 miles. Looks like for connecting flights they are charging 5500 miles flat!
Not sure of this though.

Don't understand this:

DEL-HKG priced at 35K OW and even
AMD-HKG (via DEL) priced at 35K!!

as long as you are on AI metal there will be point to point pricing.

there is just one more thing to be republished. any guesses ;)

Actually I am seeing BOM-DEL-FRA etc. priced at 90k in J. I think they shifted to zone based award pricing in line with *A awards. Ofcourse the IT cannot handle both at same time @:-) :D

This is so atrocious! They are holding us hostage for some KYC compliance? Are they a financial institution requiring to fulfill RBI norms? We can't use our own miles till these jokers decide that we are fit to do so under some bizarre rules... and taking their own little sweet time in the process :(

BTW, where can we check KYC status? I didn't find any link.

KYC for Airline ffp ??? What for ? Anyway any miles credited can be through flights or credit cards and BOTH usually have their KYC done ( id check etc etc)..
Any specific reason for this ?

wonderer9089 Dec 10, 2015 6:19 am

I can now book an award ticket with status "Pending".

Assuming they take more miles depending on stopover and length of the same, similar to additional airport fees which are levied if stopover over 24 hrs ..

kshastry Dec 11, 2015 12:48 am

My status is now showing verified. I can use "pay using miles" and see the flight - miles details. However I cannot book since "Radio button" is either disabled or not showing up in my browser screen :(
