PNQ - ORD (or other US cities) now priced at 85000 miles. Looks like for connecting flights they are charging 5500 miles flat!
Not sure of this though.

Earlier: AMD-DEL was priced at 7500 miles where as a connecting flight via BOM was priced at 4500 for AMD-BOM and 9500 for BOM-DEL so a total of 14000 miles.
Now: Even the connecting flights are priced at 5500 miles. Conclusion: Is it that at least for "DOMESTIC" point to point award pricing is gone?

as long as you are on AI metal there will be point to point pricing.
Anyway, have a question : IIRC, I read in these forums, that point to point pricing would be done even if there are connecting flights.. question is where to see the miles requirements for those for AI metal ? For eg.. Domestic flights -- Am trying to price Kolkata - Jammu / Goa / Kochi Moscow / etc etc and it does not give option to select these destinations if I give origin as Kolkata ? Does it mean I need to pay separately for say Kol - Delhi and then Delhi - Jammu ? What about international legs - I thought now from India to say New York or SFO or Moscow or Bangkok would be same miles regardless of the domestic connection in India ? Same issue like for domestic as in cannot even search these as destinations giving origin as Kolkata. I assume I am missing some trick to price the above reasonably .. Please advise. Thanks |

ohk.. but seemed from some posts in this thread that for international sectors, it was different for some routes..Eg.. AMD - HKG
e.g. HYD-DEL-ORD flight carries flight no AI127 all the way through. It costs 80000 one-way in economy. However, a PNQ-DEL-ORD redemption, which involves 2 different flight numbers, costs 85000 one-way in economy. Its a frustrating FFP. :td: |

It differs if the same flight continues onwards or not.

AI Y seat availability
Hello,
IIRC, earlier even if there were very few seats available in Economy, those were available for redemption, has that changed ? Trying to see availability for some dates in May end - June end between Delhi & Moscow and it always shows no availability even though revenue tickets are available. :( Appreciate advise from folks who have redeemed lately.. Thanks |

Upgrades on *A
Found this on the FR website.. Just to reconfirm.
Seems *A upgrade awards will only be possible if its from the highest ticket bucket.. i.e from Economy to business upgrade is possible only if the Eco ticket is in Y or B class  So any kind of discounted ticket is not eligible .. :td: |

Every Star Alliance FFP has the same policy...upgrades on the network are available only on the higher class fares.. not specific to AI.

I am trying to redeem DEL-SFO flight on miles and when I try to pay the taxes using credit card I am constantly getting some or the other error.
"Payment system error - please retry" Tried with Visa/Master & Amex.. What are my options here? I don't want to lose the award availability waiting for it to work.. TIA |

ai has completely ruined the best benefits of its ffp....one of their best features used to be the ability to upgrade your ticket using miles....while they have still retained that, the number of miles required to upgrade now makes no sense....
i have a personal trip coming up to atq next month....the tickets were very well priced at inr 1,286 one way....even though its a short less than an hour flight, they are flying the dreamliner on this route so i thought about upgrading my ticket using miles....normally this trip in business would set you back 12k miles but with the current 40% off promotion ai is running, this would have only cost me 7,200 miles....ai on the other hand wanted 10,800 miles for me to upgrade my ticket....who in their right mind would even consider such a ridiculous deal???? i've said it before & i'll say it again, ai has completely butchered one of the best benefits of their ffp.... |
