Increase in EBG for 9W

Jet has increased costs of Excess Baggage to Rs.300 per KG on domestic flights or 5USD per kg if domestic flight is part of other international sectors effective March 21, 2014....

Claiming to be a Full service carrier, they offer no more baggage allowance than Indigo or Spice. Indigo actually allows you to pre-pay for excess baggage at 5kg for rs 500, or 10kg for rs 1500... So much for the "benefit" of flying 9W full service.

On a recent MAA-SIN flight, my checked baggage was 44kgs (allowed 40 for biz+20plat = 60kgs) and my hand baggage was weighed and it was 9kg. The counter staff insisted I remove 2kg and place it in my check-in baggage...

They've become inflexible, rude and aggressive - if I wasn't using up the last of my vouchers, I would not have flow 9W for sure. Seriously these guys have lost the plot on customer service

Was it a full flight? Weight conditions, prevailing winds etc mean that airlines can and will enforce baggage limits to the letter in certain cases, whether you're plat or your relative is a chief minister for that matter.

No it wasn't - and furthermore weight restrictions would mean that the 2kg going in hold or in hand luggage would be immaterial. It was more about following the letter without any discretion or common sense - how does taking 2kg out of my cabin baggage and placing into hold baggage make any difference on a flight that was at 50% load in premiere anyway. My bag was the same size regardless and it would have no impact on storage space available in the overhead bins.

Tell me about it - and you and I used to be the biggest 9W ambassadors and loyalists on here not too long ago!

Shocking.... In the early days of international flights, I was luck y to fly F several times and really contemplated going for status. Looking back, I thank my lucky stars that I never got started with Jet Airways.

You were smart not to. I was fortunate enough that with CX and UK/US combos I managed to hold on to my BA gold status even when I was flying Jet once a month India - USA - India.
Since then one world has taken all my business back from 9W.

Most of my miles have also moved from Jet to OW, mainly BA (India-US-India)- thanks to Jet's attitude..

But there is a part of me that wants Jet to join OW the benefits of being able to use one's miles for the other would be awesome.. plus if I am able to redeem BA miles on Jet, I would never ever put another mile on my Jet account.. *Daydreaming*

That would have been the dream scenario pre-Etihad days. Now I would credit to Etihad guest miles. At least I can top it up Amex MR points for a decent redemption.

Unfortunately Jet airways does not credit miles on low bookings classes on any partners

the current table for Etihad can be seen at
http://http://www.etihadguest.com/en...e/jet-airways/

This means that low fare flights only get credit on JP. So best use is still 9W flights on 9W and use for domestic redemptions. Or if you flying Business class or First class then look at crediting to a partner.

For quick reference
It is as shown below for EY guest credit on 9W flights:

CABIN CLASS BOOKING CLASS MILES EARNED
First F, A 200% of actual Miles Flown
Business C, J, Z, I , P 150% of actual Miles Flown
Economy Y, M, T , U 100% of actual Miles Flown
Economy N, L 75% of actual Miles Flown
Economy Q, S 50% of actual Miles Flown
