Jet Redemption Queries Thread

I couldn't find a thread that would have all queries/ questions/ confusions/ lack of knowledge / lack of will to search type posts in one place, so thought let's start one.. this way one can refer back for any queries and we would have a depository of sorts for any newbie..

I am going to start with 2 queries of my own:
1) It is possible to cancel a redemption ticket with Jet ? How much do they charge for that (miles and money both) ?

Not sure if this would count as a Jet query or Skyward query.. I am trying to book a domestic Jet redemption using my Skywards miles.. any idea how long do they (skywards) take to process it and what kind of taxes I can expect on it..

Answer to first question is - yes - and with full tax refund (less some 105 rupees) and all miles credited back - there is a 500 miles charge if u are not gold or platinum. It actually makes it the most flexible last minute ticket u can get (subject to availability). Also note all of this holds if u cancel before the flight - no show means only tax refund - miles get eaten up.

good chance i may drop down to gold next year though....i've pretty much given up on jet & haven't used them much this year....in fact, my next 4 international trips over the next couple of months are on ek, ai (twice) & cx....if i did all these on 9w then i would make plat again but it just doesn't seem worth it anymore....

That's really good.. only 500 miles is not bad.. I was afraid they would say they are non refundable altogether..

wat about the tax on the skywards miles..?? any gems there..??

I tried booking a Jet redemption using skyward miles.. the ticket date is 2 months out and I checked availability on jet portal for award tickets.. EK comes back with - no seats available for my dates.. how does this work..???

Same - and unless those buggers decide that their 2 segment flight from BOM to EWR should actually earn *2 sectors*, I'm not flying Jet unless its an emergency...

Even the baggage allowance at 23 kgs per bag in Premiere is not worth it - a (good/strong) suitcase weighs at least 7-12 kgs by itself!

Well, atleast I figured out the Tax bit..

A. USD 50 = if a booking is made within 7 days of flight travel and,
B. USD 75 = if booking made within 24 hours of flight travel,

No idea what the tax is, if booked more than 7 days in advance..

The source: email from Emirates..
