I was wondering what everyone values a Jet mile at - would be interesting to hear everyone's feedback on this.

Depending on the redemption you use for, I value it between 30 paise to 50 paise

Thanks for the feedback.

I just booked a domestic fare for a friend:

Award: 12k miles + Rs. 1,421/-

Revenue: Rs. 10,359/-, which included the "convenience fee" and a 5% discount with a Jet co-branded credit card.

Usually I just buy the revenue ticket - even though I'm not flying, so I gather that I value them (only in this case ) at:

Rs.10,359/- less Rs. 1,421/- = Rs. 8,938/- = 0.745 Rupees per Mile.

Depends how many you buy.

Say if you buy 75,000 you get 105,000 for 98,385. So a DEL-BRU ticket will cost you around 120,000.

Still over Rs1 per miles though.

Purchase a minimum of 500 JPMiles upto 2000 and get 10% More JPMiles
Purchase a minimum of 2100 JPMiles upto 4000 and get 20% More JPMiles
Purchase a minimum of 4100 JPMiles upto 6000 and get 30% More JPMiles
Purchase a minimum of 6001 and above JPMiles and get 40% More JPMiles

For example, 2000 JPMiles purchased online gets you 2000 JPMiles + 200 Bonus JPMiles (10% More JPMiles). Offer on all

Just redeemed DEL-BRU-YYZ and EWR-BRU-DEL in J for 188k and approx 40k INR.

A J ticket to North America (on a flat bed carrier) is typically about 170-180k INR. And it earns about 25k miles.

So net I spent about (188+25 =) 213k miles for saving (180-40 =) 140k INR.

So approx about 0.66 rs per mile...

That is a very low fare for Jet - and *lucky* if you can get that...

Otherwise BA is about that price...

LH 20-30k lower.

UA in between.

You can get KL/AF/DL for 140-155k nowadays...

Yeah, I usually look for BA, LX or 9W and then start searching for award options.

Definitely no slanty slopey LH J, or the non rev heavy, crappy food and service J on UA.

for the last couple of years i've been redeeming on partner airlines for certain domestic north america routes for only 2.5k per sector....this is best value for jp miles in my opinion....

last month i redeemed a couple of united flights which were selling for around $200....only cost me 2.5k miles & $2.50....so about inr 0.23 per mile....

Yep - those are probably the most value-for-money redemptions of Jet points.

Using one of my examples:
- redeeming on Cathay J, BOM-HKG-BOM = 100,000 points + Rs 900
- loss of 8,000 if revenue ticket
- CX revenue ticket going for around Rs 100,000

So, 108,000/100,000 = Rs 1.08 / mile

Not nearly the best bang for the rupee.

But the sheer poetic justice from using Jet points to fly a far better airline that's their main competition on arguably one of their most successful routes for nearly no cash during the time Jet were at their stingiest worst was priceless.

I guess the above was quite a good bang for the JP miles..

DEL - CCU sector Y trips redemption multiple occasions..
INR fare was getting about INR 6.5k .. miles paid 9600 + ~ 500 in taxes.. would have recd ~ 900 miles on rev ticket..
So saved 6500 - 500 = 6000 inr for 9600 + 900 = 10500 miles = .57 Rs per mile..

DEL - CCU on J redemption..
J ticket was costing about inr 27k !! .. Paid 19200 in miles + ~ 1100 in taxes..would have received ~ 1400 miles on rev ticket
So saved 27k - 1100 = Rs 25900 for 19200+1400 = 20600 miles = Rs 1.25 per mile

While the value definitely comes up higher for international J redemption, I still feel the best value of JP miles comes in economy redemption in domestic or partner airlines in US as Keyser mentioned
