Yes.. I've flew 21 flights with them in July and June, got op-up'ed once. Primarily cause it's off season and Y was never overbooked to warrant an upgrade, but it used to be a LOT more easier a year or two ago.
Problem is many FF's on Jet have gotten spoilt rotten at the royal treatment and upgrades, especially the Platinum types. Now with the goodie cart being locked up, they are going to be hopping mad! |
Jet started losing their mojo a long time ago, when they largely got themselves into a financial predicament. Then, like we've seen with so many other businesses, they forgot the difference between cost and value/quality.
In economy, the deterioration is far less start than up front (which is where the real money is to be made). Now all they have left is a solid hard product and reliability. The two will enable them to stay afloat, but little more. They really need to learn from this phrase, which is rather apt as Jet have gone on and on and on about fuel prices and costs: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...rnJetLearn.jpg Not that I'm implying Delta are the personification of said phrase. The learning is in the message, not the messenger. |

Yes speaking of Jet.. Where can we hop around though? I fly over a hundred domestic Y flights a year and find a half decent alternative to 9W. (Please don't say AI, please don't.)

IT
I wouldn't flt IT if they gave me half price fares. On a flight in business 2 months back they didn't load any food nor did they have any cold drinks. Wrote of a complaint letter and followed it up 3 times now and they haven't even acknowledged it yet. Does the IFE work now? Last time I flew they hadn't paid the bills so only a few Hindi programs and Movies. |

The IT seats or tray tables needed cleaning, but my 9W flights in economy class last month also needed major seat and tray table cleaning too. My miles posted to my airline programs of choice. |

OpuP is another entitlement that, in my opinion, is not a reasonable criterion for judging an airline. |

Jet is also now scaled back to 8 seats from 28. Even their new 900 aircraft, which used to have 32 J earlier now has only 16.

I am not sure what you mean here.
AI is not a bells-and-whistles airline in J: not in domestic. Basic and predictable service. But if we are paying a premium, i do not want to see broken seats and stuff like that. Jet is loosing the game IMO, and due to their own mismanagement. |

People want freebies which Jet can neither afford, nor is willing to give anymore. It's more acute among the new FF's as all they have seen is the mad rush to lure customers. Credit Card Wielding Low-Rev Frequent Fliers. Then credit card is pretty new in India too. :D |

If I'm more likely to get an opup on one airline vs another, then I will fly it more.
This is one of the reasons why I switched to flying CX TPAC from AC (well, there are several...) One can and should switch to an airline that meets their needs best. It's personal matter. |
