That's because he tried to MFU. If he had just gone as "staff" travelling for "free" he'd have been upgraded toute de suite, no questions asked. :)

Yes, Lalji laughing all the way to the bank...
"Eyewash" for us (effectively) lulloos... Another point: I was waitlisted for a particular high economy fare, when the system opened up 4 seats in that COS, but of course when I called the call center, they could not explain why my WL never cleared. I am still waiting *ages* on hold on the telephone for them to get back to me... How inefficient are they?? I just flew down outbound on an Indigo flight because Jet "rescheduled" their late morning flight to an early afternoon flight, and I was *amazed* at how fast that huge line moved forward! Even on board, the pax were *so relaxed*, compared to Jet - no idea why... Although the Indigo on board food sucks (being very unhealthy), if you can bring your own food with you, it's a worthy option. Jet simply cannot even compete with Indigo, who is effectively charging the *same*, if not more than Jet noways - at least on the sectors I am flying. Edited to Add: *And*, on board Indigo, the FA is approaching corporate clients first, advising them that they have a free choice of food + drink. Wow - more Rs. lost by Jet - sounds similar to UA's current situation... |

Not according to recent reports indicating a severe deterioration of the long-haul F and J products.

Only thing I don't like is that they have pulled Dom. But that is personal choice as some love Bollinger more. |

By all accounts, this airline is already past hopeless in so many aspects. Yet they've decided they will charge "Rs 1,500 for front row seats; Rs 500 for row 10 seats and Rs 250 for window and aisle seats" on all international 737 flights.
Wow. So now they have: * Baggage fees * Ticketing fees * Seat selection fees * Reservation fees * Credit card fees * Ticket printing fees * Convenience fees * Optional (yeah right) payment fees * Optional shendwees fees And God knows what else. Wow. And coming soon: * JetBus seating fees * Optional toilet paper fees * Overhead bin usage fees * Flushing fees * Seat reclining fees * Privilege of flying FIBGA fees * "We need to pay for lalaji's walkup Emirates First tickets" fees Congratulations FIBGA, that's probably more "optional fees" than EasyJet and Ryanair combined. Delusional much? |

Wow. Do we even have a chance of obtaining Row 10/EE? I think Jet prefers selling the seats rather than our loyalty, if this is what it has come to now! :td: (Isn't this a domestic change, rather than an international one?) Edited to Add: Apparently confirmed as international for now - but the worst is yet to come! |
Please someone/anyone launch another airline in India.

At where they've fallen to (at record speeds, no less), the nature of the market they're expecting this from and who they're up against. It's akin to Rakhi Sawant quoting Katrina's movie rates for a TV episode. Sure, there will be the odd horny fan/fool who will pay up, but that's about it. And look at the fee vis-a-vis the ticket prices: Bombay-Colombo can be had for under 15,000 return. Which means they're effectively charging 20% on top of that just for a seat. I don't know the Middle East fares, but I suspect they're in a similar range. The likes of CCU-BKK, MAA-CMB and CCU-DAC where the fares are (I'm guessing here) probably around Rs 8,000-10,000 return make this even sillier. Pay an additional 33% of the ticket value for confirmed seats? And I'm not sure if this impacts the ability to choose seats at OLCI. In any event, OLCI doesn't work half the time anyway. So do you pay a third of your ticket price to get an assured seat? Or do you risk waiting until OLCI, which is a risk by itself since jet.dumb is hopeless. Or do you fly another (likely better) airline instead? |

By itself, charging for advance seat selection is fine.
