Not really. Vinay Bhaskara at Bangalore Aviation did a great analysis to show that $500million in compensation is a fair amount.

I hope the oil companies insist on the monies received from Boeing be used to pay off their dues and AI doesn't get to see a single cent of this "compensation".

The compensation will likely be applied as a discount against the 787 purchases.

I don't think BOEING would PAY them anything. Its going to be adjusted in sales as far as my feeling goes!

Now BOEING says they are not writing a cheque to anyone.....

Wishful thinking by AIR INDIA..... BOEING denies any payout agreement

Nope. Compensation is usually "paid" in the form of discounts, either against current orders, or against future orders.

Since I don't think AI has any plans to order any new Boeings any time soon, I assume that the compensation would be adjusted against their current order.
