It's unconfirmed rumor and with no reports in media, i don't find any basis for it.

as others have poined out, there is no mention of this anywhere and such unsubstantiated.....

not saying this is happening but if this were to happen, and i had to place a bet, my bet will be Reliance (Anil Ambani's group) and not Goyal..... they have deep pockets and if IIRC, he was interested (or rumored to be interested) in Deccan before Mallya took it over.... of course if Reliance does take over IT, it would be interesting, the reliance run IT fares will be cheaper than bus fares (Indians will recall what reliance did when they launched Reliance mobile many years ago)....

That was Mukesh Ambani who launched it I find him to be more business minded and better suited than his younger brother.

+1..... and that's why i doubt Mukesh will want to throw money after civil aviation - more like a Anil Ambani venture (after all Anil made the bid for Deccan) - he can merge it with the Mumbai Metro project - a single Rs.15 ticket from Versova to Delhi

Now that would be funny. But seriously, AI has trouble paying wages and fuel, do you really think that they have the money to buy another airline?

I'm not sure how things work in India, but I would imagine that there would have to be some sort of communication with the govt when an airline is sold. Am I right?

Yep, as IT is a listed company it needs to notify the regulators about any such decision.

If Vijay has really sold IT, at least we will not have to listen to these pathetic 'I have picked the Flight Attendants personally and instructed them to threat you as guests...' announcements
