DEL-LHR....BA or 9W First?
Planning to fly DEL-LHR later this month and am considering either BA or 9W First class. The BA flight is on the 747 and 9W is on the 777. Does anyone have an opinion on which is better? The flight times are very similar, so it really comes down to service and quality. Also a little concerned that the 9W flight seems to be frequently delayed.....
Is is true that 9W inflight service in F is basically the same menu as business? Another thread on here insinuated that.
Thanks!

The 747 doesn't have the new first yet. Well there are some that have been retrofitted but they are run on the more premium US routes. The 747 to Delhi still has the old First and when I say old it is very old compared to the state of the art Jet first cabins.
However in the first week of Feb BA are starting the late night flight ex DEL on a 77W which will have the new First cabin.
I have flown both in the last 2 months and I can easily say that Jet wins hands down.
Here is my feedback -
Check-in
Jet beats BA hands down in this. BA does not have any porters to meet you by the car, no one calls to confirm what time you will be coming, First class check in had a family of Economy class customers checking in. No one filled in our Immigration cards, seats were assigned in Row 2 and row 4 even though we were both on the same PNR. We had to go in the airplane and ask the passengers to do a seat change. Once we had checked in there was no one to check up on us unlike Jet who allocate a porter and a person to escort you through the airport to the lounge and then onto the aircraft.
Boarding
Like i mentioned above, Jet beats BA hands down with the boarding process as someone comes and gets you from the lounge and then takes you onto the airplane. BA was like boarding as a Economy passenger. No one seemed to care or help you skip the boarding ques.
Flight
Seats are dated and nothing compared to the Jet product. The In Flight entertainment is old and on a small screen unlike Jets big screen. Champagne was.... I can't even remember. I think it was Larsen, not sure as there were no menu cards given. Yes they didn't have any menu cards for Food or beverages. Apparently they weren't loaded onto the flight. Breakfast was decent enough followed by lunch which was really bad. All we got was a choice of 3 mains and I choose the Prawns, was be given a salad with 4 small pieces. Had to fill myself on breads and ask for a pasta dish which was disappointing.
Wanted a packet of crisps and asked the FA who said they had finished. Very disappointing choice of food and snacks. More like economy class then First.
Arrival and transfer are slightly better then Jet as T5 is a better connection hub in my opinion. Travelling First you can use the Concorde room on arrival which serves decent a la carte cuisine. This is a plus point for BA as its a great lounge.
In flight service
Nothing compared to Jet. Jet has higher quality FA's who offer a better In flight service. I was taking a walk and wanted to go upstairs to the upperdeck on the 747. I was stopped on the way up by a FA and was told that I am not allowed. Whats the big deal?
Baggage
Took 3 days for the luggage to make it. No one seems to care at BA and blamed it on the weather. We had a 5 hr transfer in LHR and one of the 3 bags made it. Another girls bag made it to our destination from DEL on BA and she was flying Economy. So that shows you how much priority they give to First class bags. With Jet my bags are always the first to come out.
All in I would go with Jet any day over BA. The private suite, better IFE, DOM P, friendly FA's, VIP treatment in the airport.

Is it me or do you guys find the in flight service to be superior on 9W? I found it to be a huge differance. On Jet you are actually treated as you are a First passenger on BA I found it to be normal treatment for all pax's.

I do not count SQ "R" Suites class in this group as this is not priced as the other "F" products.
