The OP here is saying that 9W confirmed standbys 40 min before boarding time. Which I first read as 40 min before boarding not as 40 min before departure...fuzzy now.

I have flown EK and EY in biz from DXB and AUH to Chennai, EK uses a large longhaul plane which is reasonably comfy but EY uses a shorthaul plane which is ok but not worth paying more for.

9W from DXB - MAA is a cattle car with one class and tiny seats...nice service though...
