Question Goodbye 9W, Hello IT?

Greetings everyone, this is my first post.

Haven’t flown much with IT because of my platinum status with 9W (which seems to be - increasingly - the only reason I’m still married to them).

Will IT consider offering its top tier to attract a 9W platinum member?

Cheers.

IT matched 9w members about 2 years ago - not sure if they will do this now...best to call King Club and ask them.

Welcome to FT, ashgha!

Thanks, SuperFlyBoy.

IT's introduction of a platinum tier is reason to hope that they will. It's a great opportunity to reel in some tired 9W plats.

Just a word here - when flying on IT I have found some ex-Jet flyers who have said they have never looked back...I would tend to agree if you are flying in biz cabins primarily.

IT has in the past done quite a bit of tier matching, some even without request by the pax! If you do, however, request them to match, they'll want to see your record of travel with 9W in the last 6-12 months.

Given the changes to IT's program (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/airli...f-program.html), I think its a great idea to move to KingClub !

I think so too! And I'm going to give it a go. Nothing ventured...

I was wondering - how would they know how to match?? (Like, to which tier, etc...)

Wouldn't one's existing tier on 9W be the way to go?

Yes, but I was replying to the reported "auto-status match"...

You should go ahead and provide your flight count if they request it...

Any inputs on which credit card complements IT best? I've used the Jet-Citi combo for years and it's worked wonderfully.

If you only want IT miles, then there is a co-branded IT-AmEx card, which also gives you IT Gold status, for an up-front payment of Rs. 10k or 15k - forget which...

They used to give Gold status because that was the highest...Should be plat now.

They go by what the tier would have been had you flown them instead of 9W, then do some 20% or so of discounting (waived on some vague ad-hoc basis in many cases).

i don't think it bumps anyone to platinum through credit cards....i know the it amex & the platinum amex both come with gold status....

i don't know what the big deal is about it....i end up flying with it 4-5 times a month (along with 2-3 jet flights a week) but i always prefer jet....also, their international offering is so much better than it....
