Refund on a Business promotional ticket

Refund on a Business promotional ticket

I have a IB business promotional LHR BOG rtn. It is booked into I class. The confirmation states a refund it allowed at any time for €100 per leg. But l have called 5 or 6 times the call center. And they say this ticket is non refundable ? Could anyone help, if they, have had a similar problem in the past. Thanks.

ITA Matrix shows that I class fares for IB on the LHR-MAD-BOG route are non-refundable.

No idea why your confirmation might suggest otherwise...

Unless they issued a specific waiver due to COVID, I-fare tickets are never refundable. Occasionally the dates are changeable for a fee and a difference in fare. In any case you should be able to get the fees and taxes refunded, and on those discounted fares they can amount to one-third of the total ticket price or more.

On my LHR MAD MDE on the IB confirmation,i t states its refundable for €100 per leg. And if l do a dummy booking for a LHR MAD MDE MAD LHR on the 12th Jan returning 13th Jan. Again it shows the same conditions. Maybe a IB system error. But l trying to refund it. And the call center says no.

Curiosity did get the better of me and I priced it up on the IB website...

refund (in each direction)
Allowed at any time with a penalty of €100/USD125, except in the case of not showing up for the flight (no-show), which will have a penalty of €200/USD250

Yes I did that too and you're right. Very odd. I brought up the fare on ITA Matrix and as LondonElite said that fare shows as non-refundable while IB.com says it is.

So when you call IB the agent will look up the fare basis on their system (
INNNNV LON to MDE) and it will look as a non-ref fare to them. You can try and explain that shouldn't be the case over the phone but they're not going to accept your word at face value, so unless they are willing to make a dummy booking on IB.com on the spot that's not going to work.

The best course of action is to write them an email with a screenshot of your confirmation stating the refund policy. An e-mail also provides timestamped proof that you requested a refund prior to the flight dep. date. You may also want to attach the screenshot of a dummy booking to the e-mail so as to prove that those fare conditions were still being offered when you contacted them, just in case.

Thanks to everyone looking into this for me. One agent said she charge €230 penalty to cancel. But the transaction did not go through. Another agent has opened a case, and they will respond with 21 working days. I have sent screen shots to the IB twitter team. But so far, they are still looking at the case. I guess the best option is a charge back via the credit card.
Is there a email address to send screen shots to IB. As on the website l can not find any way of communication, other than social media and phone.
