Boarding of IB flight MAD - EAS - MAD with ATR 72 (Air Norstrum)

Can anyone advise if boarding of the ATR 72 on this route is by the rear staircase? If so, I would be better of selecting seats at the back, rather than front. Thank you.

ATR planes are boarded from the back!

Thank you! And are they numbered in reverse as well? Trying to make sense of the seat selection on iberia.com.

According to SeatGuru, seat rows are numbered from the front.

seatguru is wrong!

SeatGuru is notoriously unreliable for airlines without lots of English speakers.

I've only flow the YW CRJ's so I can't be of much help, but I do know not to trust them.

I found this on Air Nostrum's site that indicates that yes, they are numbered in reverse.

IIRC they are indeed numbered in reverse.

Indeed, they are numbered from the back. On seatmaestro there's one review on the ATR about backward facing seat on row 20, which is at the very front of the plane.

In conclusion, seat rows start from the back of the plane.

Numbered from the back. Entry trough back door.
Best seats at the back as less propeller noise.
First 2,3 roads from the back are for business.
No complimentary food nor drinks for economy (only.paid options). Free sandwitch and drink in bizz.
Boarding in MAD from the farthests gates (J?) at T4.
Approach and landing to EAS if done from the sea are worth the discomfort of a window seat.
Large items will be taken at the airplane door and returned once landed also next to the airplane.
Avoid checking in luggage on the EAS MAD leg, as the luggage delivery is painfully slow. 45 minutes ++, if ever delivered...

Thanks all, it would certainly seem that IB's seat selection on the website is not up to the task of dealing with the ATR 72.

The attached image is how it displays and I am unable to use the chevrons to move the seats selection towards the "cabin" or "rear". Still, it's only a short flight, so row 11 will suffice instead of row 7.

I'll also have checked bags LHR - MAD, so let's hope the show up!

You might be able to select the seat you want via Royal Jordanian.

Yes, I tried RJ/QR/AY to no avail. May give IB a call at some stage. EF has the "front" of economy blocked for now so might see how far to the back I can move closer to departure.

20 rows on the ATR? Wow! My weekly commute on Air NZ ATR-72 squeezes in 17 rows and that is tight.

Well, minus a row 14 and a half-row 20, there might be a cupboard or similar missing too. It's not exactly comfortable but it isn't horrid.
