Great news for flights to non-LHR destinations in the UK. Though the 40 Elite Points for a UK domestic connection in economy on BA is quite nice.

The Italian destinations will come in very handy as well.

Iberia to introduce 3 new routes

Iberia have announced that from 2015, they will introduce three new routes from Madrid to Edinburgh and Manchester. The Edinburgh service will start in March operating four times a week, increasing to six times a week during peak summer season. The Manchester service will start in September also operating four times a week. To add to this, they will also introduce a twice-daily service to London Gatwick. All 3 routes will be operated by Iberia Express.

Which Terminal will Iberia Express be using at Gatwick? BA is in North terminal but is planning to move to South in the medium term. I assume if departing North terminal I can use the BA lounge as it is a oneworld flight?

I also noticed Iberia Express are running direct flights from LHR to Las Palmas and Tenerife from the end of March which is very welcome.

Yes, though Tenerife flight is to TFN which is less popular in UK market. Not sure I'd fancy 4 hrs in Y on I2 with 28" seat pitch though, and I'm not very tall.

Yes its great to see. More OW routes from the UK down to the Canaries is always good and seems to be working for BA on leisure routes.Hope it works for I2/IB too. People want bucket and spade destinations with a bit of comfort with ability to earn/burn miles and use their lounge/bags perks. ^

I would have no hesitation flying I2 for 4 hours in C or Y.

Departing from the South terminal. Am on the LGW-MAD on 2nd April in J, and haven't been able to get an answer from Iberia Express as to whether any lounge access arrangement will be in place. Does anyone know? I will report back after the flight.

Access was given to the No 1 Traveller lounge in LGW South. It was rather crowded though, but good for a quick refreshment. The meal in J onboard was impressive for IB Express and the crew did a great job.
