Is this hotel really inconvenient for seeing the city for two days? I know it's close to the airport and our flt comes in late and leaves early but don't want to spend great amounts of time in a taxi. Thanks

It's as good a location as any. It's close to Deira (the old part of town), but far from Jumeirah Beach, the Marina, and the Mall of the Emirates (e.g., 20 minutes or so with light traffic, and up from there).

I guess we'd be more limited for dining options if we stayed in the hotel area then? Unfortunately, our visit coincides with Britain's school break and EID so hotel rates are very high. I am now deciding between PH and Grosvenor House.

Not necessarily. There are plenty of good restaurants in and around Deira (Entrecote Cafe de Paris, in the Khaleej Palace Hotel, is a fun casual one), although the Marina area (where the Grovesnor House is) probably has a greater concentration, especially of more upscale places. For what it's worth, I believe that the Grovesnor House does not participate in Starwood Preferred Guest, if that aspect is of value to you.

Thanks for the reply and I did notice that GH does not participate in spg which is a definite drawback-that and having to take a shuttle to the pool. It just seems like our cab rides may be shorter to get around for the two days that we have there.
