It is me and ms. chobby100 for the whole time - Could we check into rooms on alternate days?

From the FFN page:
"A stay means one or more consecutive nights at any participating hotel or resort, whether or not the guest checks out and back in during such period"


Can I just make 14 individual bookings (going back and forth between me and then ms. chobby100) so as to get 3.5 free FFNs each?

Would this piss off the frontdesk? (ps - these may be through priceline).

I'm willing to do the leg work of reservations, but would they combine all of our individual days (ie catch on)? Would they make us change rooms (technically, I am checking out).


Any help would be appreciated.

Won"t work,you will have to stay some where else every other night.Is there another hyatt close to the location you want to stay at?

I think it would work if you and your wife have different Hyatt GP accounts. Technically you SHOULD be required to checkout everyday but since it costs the hotel more to cleanup your room after you checkout than if you stay in the same room 14 straight nights, you might be able to talk the hotel manager into letting you keep the same room. However I'm pretty sure that you'll actually have to go down to the front desk and physically check-out and then have your wife check back in and vice versa each day so the hotel can charge your credit card and you can get a separate folio each day.

It would work. We did that with a stretch of 4 nights in DC last summer. However, we did not tell the frontdesk about it as we knew we were skirting the system so to speak. So we actually did the check-in check-out thing every day. We were travelling with 2 backpacks and our car parked at a Muni garage 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Therefore, we just checked out each morning, dumped our backpacks in the car and then took the metro to The Mall. When we returned in the evening we retrieved our packs and checked in again. Yes, we stayed in different room each night. It did not bother us.

For a 2 week stretch though, I think you are pushing it, especially if these are PL stays.

By the way, did you spring for a normal MasterCard, or are you planning to use one of those pre-paid jobs too?

I ask, because during your last foray onto this board, you were requested to report back your success, or lack thereof, regarding the use of a pre-paid MC, but you have not done so.

Have some dignity.

Do you really want to go through all that hassle for a few free nights?

Now if they were offering a GP2000, now that would be a different situation all together.

I had 2 nights booked in melb my friend had 2 nights booked.
he told them we needed to do 2 nights each,. they said it was ok that it would be split on checkout-I KNEW that would not be ok but my friend could not be told
. we paid 2 nights and then on the fourth night they said they couldnt split the stay.
The guy on the desk was obviously to smart for his own good so we were stuck with 1 stay 4 nights.

I agree with gregorygrady. This will work. The GP database will look for consecutive nights on the same GP number, which will not be the case. You will have to check in and out daily. They may let you keep the same room. Make sure you leave with 14 closed portfolios alternating GP accounts and qualifying MasterCard charges. Get your G2 and airline bonuses also. It doesn't matter if it is PL as long as you have your qualifying incidental.

And who cares if it pisses off the front desk. Hyatt made the rules, it is our responsibility to stretch them.

To be honest, how much hassle is it? Making the reservations, then going to the front desk each day. Surely many of the frequent poster on FT have done much more (do MR's to far east from the US and back in weekend ring a bell? How about buying some pudding?) for rewards. I suppose much the antics that we FT'ers engage in is seen as the "have some dignity" kind (mistake fares etc.). In the end it all where we draw our own lines.

Look, I just wanted to survey the community. I have no desire to get into a pissing match with you or anyone else. Just curious what people thought.

As to the Divaoftravel's comments, if we continue to stretch the rules and become abusive which would be the result if one checks in and out five times in the same period, Hyatt will simply close the loopholes (incidentials on an award/priceline stay) and become the tough, nasty companies so many others are like.

They are wonderful to us--it is time to start being somewhat reasonable as well.

I agree with you chobby100, it's not much hassle at all and I wouldn't think twice about doing what you are doing. You're already at the hotel, what's the big deal about going to the front desk and checking in/out everyday, it'll only take 5-10 minutes. And dignity vs. a few free nights? First of all, 14 qualifying stays is SEVEN FFN.

7 FFN * $700/night @ Hyatt Kauai/Maui for Deluxe Oceanview RC = $4900

Dignity vs. $5000...........................................

Hmmmm.................................I'll take the $5000 thank you very much.

If however, someone else values their dignity by not having to check in + out at more than $5000, then by all means they shouldn't use this strategy.
