Yikes, thought we could count on Hyatt not going fully Hilton on us. This is now dynamic and if anything thinks the level availability will represent a bell curve (ie most of the time at moderate) it won’t happen.

Let’s sincerely hope the ability to redeem FN certs (1-4 or 1-7) doesn’t change.

Bloodbath.

question is, if you redeem at high end, is it worh buying points at a little over 2 cents each to lock in some stays before the change. I did this to lock in two weeks at the Hyatt Churchill before the category increase.

If there is a big backlash and a material reduction in complaints and direct bookings In the next few months, I would fully expect them to have a fairly neutral category change this year. If travel patterns aren't showing any real change, I fully expect a decent devaluation in the category changes as well.
With the new chart pretty much every property went up in category. I wouldn't be surprised if it's limited to high end properties in April.

Perhaps, but a SUB is a once in many years thing for many members, if they are even eligible (thinking of our international friends).

And SUBs have been available indirectly from Chase UR and to a lesser extend Bilt for a long time. I got a Chase Ink Preferred last year that came effectively with 90k Hyatt points. I doubt a Hyatt premium card would go significantly higher given how “conservative” their SUB has been for the regular card signups for many years now.

Marriott award sucks, but at least it offers 5th night free when you stay 4. Wish Hyatt will do this soon especially if “World of Hyatt continues to listen closely to members”…

Just wait until the hotel category changes are released. Doubtful that will be positive for most WOH members.

Took the words out of my mouth. I got laughed at when I said last year that Hyatt would 100% go dynamic this year and here it is. This is effectively dynamic awards. Not even a little surprised. Thank god for the IPO and the Chase partnership, because those two things are what have destroyed Hyatt.

I'm seeing a lot of people saying that this is dynamic pricing, but it's by definition not? The number of points per day is pre-determined and will not change. This isn't Marriott where checking each hour will give back a different points cost.

it would soften the blow a hair if we could combine certificates, like a suite upgrade AND free night award in a stay. otherwise this is a horrific deval.

Because massive point ranges for a "category" with 5 different "demand" levels and no restrictions on which point cost to assign any given night is effectively dynamic. Yeah sure... MAYBE they don't change them every day, but it actually isn't spelled out anywhere that won't happen either. This is dynamic awards in reality with corporate semantics.

Since Hyatt is now listening closely™, can we get 12 month expiry on those certs as well?

Hyatt is listening for sure. Paying close attention to what it's customers are telling it... problem is too many people don't realize the customers are the hotels not the guests. Hotels, especially high end ones, don't want point redemptions at all (which ironically eliminates the entire purpose of a "loyalty" program).

Hyatt will do everything it can to keep creating opportunities for adding rooms and properties because it sounds great on the shareholder calls and enables high level corpospeak gobbledygook. The path to this is making more brands that have stated abilities to ignore benefits (Studios, destination, caption etc etc etc) in order to be more attractive to more owners and pandering to existing hotels that want the business the flag brings but hate all the parasitic filth that expect benefits they earned to be honored. Hyatt is Hilton or Marriott now just without the footprint.

Pretty sure this is my last year of glob. Sad end for me after almost 2 decades of diamond glob and needing about 6 more years to ltg. Hyatt loyalty has become so much of an increasing chore the last decade and it just isn't worth it anymore. Just another homogenized post ipo greedy consumer exploitation machine.

i agree with everything you're saying here. i'll hit globalist until 2028 but unless this isn't as horrific as it seems, i'll have to shift over to another chain. unfortunately they all now stink.
