Hoping that's the case, as it's the only thing that would drive my business back to Hyatt right now...unless when the program changes it's not nearly as bad as anticipated (I fear it will be).
You have a promotion going on right now, sleep in a tent for $400/night and Hyatt will give you 2K extra bonus points per night. Knock yourself out

Marriott has been my secondary program for a long time...just got their Brilliant card, and along with being lifetime titanium, it's running about even with Hyatt for me right now.

Yes, sometime in April they will do their annual category changes. Then sometime in May they'll roll out the new award charts.

It's been a good close to 2 decades Hyatt but yeah, it's not me. It's you.

Thought I'd finish out the lifetime status in a few years but guess I'm going to just ride out this last year of status after all these years of diamond. At this point, not going to use the stupid dip**** marketing nonsense term "globalist". Always hated that idiotic term and really it was the high water mark of when Hyatt really pushed the nose down and started the dive into the ocean.

I don't need you to tell me you're sorry and that you love me, Hyatt. I've had enough of your lies at this point. Thanks for the FFN.

I hear you. I came over from Marriott at the start of the year, and I feel like the guy who showed to the party 5 minutes before the cops were called.

I'm as disappointed as many of you but to some small degree we really have to see how this all plays out.
I perceive by the following year my business will be cut in half. And I can't help but think Hyatt's timing was poor especially if this war drags on endlessly.
There was already uncertainty amongst consumers out there.

Previously award redemption's were at an all time historic high @ World of Hyatt where cash rates typically were making more sense.
Can't wrap my mind around where this is all going but what I can say is Hyatt has had no material improvements to its program in many years where some of the competition has.
Added to that Hyatt has had a dearth of meaningful promotions over these past years adding fuel to the fire.
Like Delta airlines when awards no longer make sense with a weak points/miles currency I simply never redeem or pay cash rates but go elsewhere.
I hope this won't end my good run with Hyatt more fully.Time will tell.

Don't be so negative. 500 points gets me 1/16 of the way to a one night stay at the Hyatt Place in Casper, WY.

If Hyatt had 100% more properties the changes wouldnt be as bad. But their footprint is still tiny compared to their competitors. If they devalue globalist too much Im out - the benefits were the only thing keeping me around. For this year Ill just do the bare minimum to retain globalist instead of the 90-100+ nights of previous years.

Just when you think you couldn't possibly be more upset with Hyatt.
Then comes along these speculative rumored possibilities.Good Lord
Which begs the question Has Hilton or Marriott bought Hyatt secretly and making every attempt to run the program into the ground
I know all my premium spending for the new Premium Globalist plus tier will be spent in tents glamping the rest of my life away

If they were to drop the destination fee waiver, that would seriously reduce the appeal of Globalist. I think what they'd see from present Globalists is both a shift from revenue to award stays and a drop in stays overall.

Removing the destination fee waiver and free parking on award stays would be a tough blow for sure.

All of this is in line with the reality that has been discussed a million times. The true customers for Hyatt are the hotels not the guests. The desires and interests of the guests are completely contradictory to the interests of the hotel owners and Hyatt corporate. Just like any other travel company, hotel airline etc, they would take every single benefit away if they could get away with it at once but since they can't they'll just do it a little bit at a time because they know consumers will accept it.

If they remove those, they won't be much better than Marriott/Hilton.

To me the destination fee waiver is the #1 differentiator with Marriott.

Hilton is crap on upgrades, US breakfast, and high-end properties so Hyatt would still be way ahead there.
