Suite awards now bookable without an agent!

As of today (apparently), suite upgrade awards are bookable via the app and Hyatt.com without having to contact an agent. Make sure you're logged in, click the available suite upgrade, and the room selection will automatically display the available upgrades!

Thanks for the tip, that's a very handy feature for those of us suffering from call center fears

Long overdue. One limitation I am finding is that it seems it doesn't work for hotels I've checked where my company has a specifically negotiated rate. If it's just the chainwide discount or a leverage code it seems to work though, which is really cool.

This only works for new reservations correct? I suppose the only way to apply them to existing reservations is to call still.

I'm very shocked to say that the implementation appears to be great!

I found a redemption where only a suite was available. 66K points. I clicked to use a suite upgrade, which was an option even without a base room. The price went to 45K.

Very impressive.

Seeing that as well. That's a very useful trick at properties like Ventana Big Sur. Finding an agent who was able to do that has been reported in the past but it's like winning the lottery.

Wow, nice. I was planning to make a reservation in Barcelona next summer with a suite upgrade but hadn't had time to call yet. Just gave it a shot on the app and it worked flawlessly. Huge improvement!

Same observation from me for a few hotels. So there still will be cases to email my concierge about.

Not the intended use of the SUAs, right? Read about some people getting this done with their concierge or with the phone rep, but generally speaking, a standard room on points has to be available. Assuming this would get closed down at some point in the near future.

This is fantastic, it makes seeing which suites are SUA eligible and then applying it so much easier.

100%.

Some interesting redemption possibilities for sure with this new function…

It appears to break as soon as you pick a property that doesn't have availability. Then it won't work from then on until you go back into the award and re-select it.

Hang on - so you can redeem an SUA for the price of an (unavailable) standard room, at any property where the standard suite is available?

Agree. I have the same issue. For example, I'm using a corporate rate at Hyatt Waikiki. I have several room options but no suite. Thus, when I attempt to use a suite upgrade, I am unable to do so.
