Award Night Avail on New Property

Award Night Avail on New Property
Is it common for a newly opened hotel not to have award availability for a certain time frame? There is a new Hyatt Place (nothing fancy or crazy popular) opening in downtown Indy that I would like to try during a trip I have planned there for late May. The hotel is taking reservations starting May 1 of this year and I have tried searching for availability months out and it still shows nothing.

I was wondering if this was normal or if I should just check back in a couple weeks.

Give it some time. New properties usually have to set it up.

Hyatts are not required to offer award space until they open for business.
