Same happened to me in late March (and I loved the Corner suite but can't compare to King one as only my second stay and there was no Suite available last time). Greatly appreciated (especially as hotel was very busy during the Basel Fair).

Does anyone know what the eligible rates for premium suite upgrade is? I contacted a property in Hawaii and they wanted me to pay the rate of $360 +9k points for a premium suite. The standard rate for a basic room is only $249, so the mark up is quite a bit. For $360 you can already book the Ocean front room. If anyone know how to look up these eligible rates online, please let me know.

Per the WoH terms and conditions:
In order to redeem a Suite Upgrade Award at a Hyatt resort, a Member must pay the Standard Rate for a minimum of a deluxe room (such as partial ocean view, ocean view, slope view, Dreamcatcher or Sunrise room, etc.).

At non-resort properties, it is the Standard room rate. IME, it has always been published.

thanks for the clarification, I'd wish they could let us check availability online, I think I saw all points redemption for premium suites before for some properties but were quickly removed from the online system.

While that would be more convenient, the current system rewards those who know the rules and are willing to make an extra effort. If suites for points were available online, availability would be much diminished. So overall, I think the current process is preferable for the FT demographic.

Hyatt Regency Waikiki - Penthouse Suite /w lounge access $359 + 9k points (or 40k all points)
Hyatt Regency San Francisco Luxury Suite $299 + 9k (no all points option)

Not incredible deals, since the cash rate isn't too bad either, same some on tax & fees.

Booked two suites, one premium (Park Executive Suite for 9,000 points per night), one standard (Park Terrace Suite for 6,000 points per night) at the Park Hyatt Dubai. Rate was $244 per night, per room.

Contact Hyatt customer service or reservations. Tell them you want to book a standard room with cash and upgrade to a premium suite with points. If the representative doesn't understand or says it can't be done, hang up and call again.

Keep in mind some hotels may have changed their premium suite since these posts came up. Penthouse at PH Beijing was the premium when I stayed, not sure if it still is.

I have called a few times and am always getting a run around about only being able to do points + cash bookings for premium suite ugrades. It always comes at some outrageous rate. Ive called back three times and the rate they are offering me is almost as much as just paying for the suite outright and double the standard room rate. I don't understand whats going on.

Same here... Tried to do it last week, most suites shown availability, being two of them shown as "premium suite", called and the agent could only quote 6000 points + cash for premium suite upgrades....

Gave it up, arrived at the hotel, not even a regular suite was left.
