Received mine within 3 weeks of requalification, back in December 2017. Club passes valid till Jun 30.
living in Europe, I don't have much use of the club passes, but on my recent trip via EWR to TPA, I wanted to use them in EWR.
NOT VALID in the whole Terminal C, as the lounges are being remodeled and reduced availability. So these free passes are excluded.
This is not a benefit at all for Diamond/Globalist/Elephant members..

You're right, when a major club is being remodeled (EWR for UA, also recently ORD for AA), the airline doesn't accept guess passes for that airport. I'm glad, because it helps ease overcrowding, thus reducing the misery factor a bit.
As a paid member of the United Club, the passes are completely worthless to me. I give them away to friends / co-workers who are traveling and have a long layover in an airport with a club. From that perspective, the worthless passes are worth something after all.
