The second quite wasn't from me.

So what does your reservation say? If it describes the rooms and they aren't suites, I'd call the hotel just to be safe.

Here's a cut-paste of the rate info.

Had an existing P+C reservation at the Hyatt Regency Toronto in early April that I moved to the Park Hyatt for the same night, also on P+C. No issues.

Struck out at both the Hyatt Regency Boston and the Hyatt Boston Harbor for P+C availability on the first weekend in June. Agent indicated that suite upgrades and pure points redemptions were available, but not P+C.

I get the feeling that they - and at least one other group - Carlson - are still trying to figure the p+c thing out. Talking about at the property end. Now, over there, both the p+c requirements can vary wildly (sic) two nights running - again why I like Hyatt's better. BTW, I'm seeing Hyatt cases - low end - where it makes sense to just throw in the towel and either pay all points, or - separate cases - all money.

Did a keyword search and didn't find the answer... Am I correct that points & cash availability is not shown on the Hyatt website?

I'm having trouble as well with any Boston area Hyatts, but no problems in Asia. i wonder if Boston hotels just aren't part of the program.

I dunno, I found it odd that this far out I could get a room on points, but not points and cash. I assume -- perhaps incorrectly -- that the P+C redemptions are more of a money-maker for the properties.

P&C (as well as myElite) rate being offered is totally at the properties discretion - unlike pure awards which is governed by Hyatt T&Cs (if base entry room is available for revenue, it's available for points redemption).

Some more data points:
DFW Grand Hyatt, weekday in March, 1 for 1.
Hyatt Place SLC Airport, weekday in June, 1 for 1.
Hyatt Regency Waikiki, August, got Sunday night but neither Friday nor Saturday.

I was able to get a Friday night in the fall at Andaz 5th Ave and a Sunday night at PH Shanghai - exact dates I wanted in each case.

Booked a 2 night F/Sa fall weekend at Hyatt Regency San Francisco, including Suite upgrade.

Perhaps evidence of a tug-of-war during the roll-out - Gold Passport sets the terms - the property says yes or no for a given night. I'm back on this to suggest that if it is what's going on behind the scenes, this m.o. is an impediment to the rollout. It's likely to put prospective customers off - not just in frustration but because most who are not privy to all our collective experience might just think, "Oh well, no P+C at that place..." once and for all. And I'm tacking it on to your post, Peter, because you talk to them - and if you agree - perhaps might discuss this unintended consequence with them. Or perhaps our Ambassador 777 might when he talks with them. Or perhaps Mr. Zidell watches this.

...Over and out. :)

So far, I am very happy with points & cash.

I had no problems getting nights for the days I wanted to book in Hong Kong (Hyatt Regency TST), Singapore (Grand Hyatt Singapore) and Düsseldorf (Hyatt Düsseldorf). The Hyatt Düsseldorf was even available on a short three day advanced booking where the rate was well above 200 EUR.

Applied expiring suite certficates for some of the stays.

This make it for us in Europe a bit more affordable to stay in Hyatts, given the missing budget chains and the low number of hotels which tend to be more expensive compared to those in the US.

Was thinking about making a C+P booking anytime between mid-August and mid-September at the PH Seoul but was told there's no C+P availability between July and September....
