Diamond Status - Quick Qualify

I'm Hyatt Platinum and got an e-mail today saying if I make 4 stays between 9/15-12/15, I'd get Diamond through 2/04 - here's the text:

We've made it easy for you to achieve Diamond status, which provides you exceptional services and benefits at Hyatt worldwide.

Simply complete four stays at any Hyatt worldwide between September 15 and December 15, 2002 and receive an upgrade to Diamond membership through February 2004. Diamond membership normally requires 25 stays or 50 nights in a calendar year.

Provide your Gold Passport number at reservation and check-in and we'll automatically count your stays. Once you qualify, you will receive your Diamond membership credentials.

How many stays do you have right now, before the promo?

BoulderHyattHopper Sep 12, 2002 5:00 pm

This is amazing...

I too got this offer. So far I have only 2 stays this year.

GREAT - lets see what else they can do to dilute the program - this is just amazing http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif

Just got the same offer, 4 stays from 9/15 thru 12/15, even tho I would probably requalify normally, or only miss by a few nights. Now there is no doubt about it.

I have 9 YTD with a few more planned before 12/15 - guess I'll have to make a "stay run" or two.

I still haven't seen how rolling over diamonds for less stays is a massive dilution of the program. Enlighten me.

I have not had a stay in 18 months since I switched to Starwood and am now Platinum.

Got this offer via email yesterday and could not believe it. I will be taking advatage of it however http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

This was targeted at Platinums, not Diamonds ...

Well, I didn't want to be the first to post this one, for obvious reasons [ducking] http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I received the 4 stays for platinum- have one stay this year (Dallas in May) and am Platinum through AA EXP.

This would be a great promotion for my husband to finally get to Diamond... I wonder if he will get the postcard...

Well, I hate to really rub salt in the wound Tino, but it's more than just what Beckles writes above.

I have absolutely no status with Hyatt (just a general level member), haven't stayed even one time this year and only once on a Priceline stay last year...and I got this 4 stays = Diamond offer!

And yeah...if I had earned Diamond "the hard way" I would be plenty ticked-off at this as well.

I could easily qualify under this promotion, but I have to paraphrase Groucho Marx's old question:

Would I really want to be a member of something that would have me as a member?

I am sure they know who has status with Marriott and Starwood and want to show what Diamond is all about. Once you get that customer in the door...
