Is this still a current practice of Hyatt?

My mouse clicked this thread pretty fast when I saw it, but alas...

...whilst many have been hoping for a fast track promo this year, there have been none. :(

No Diamond status 'specials'this year.
Maybe this means that I will be able to use the Grand Club next year ....

Sorry for those who were hoping to get to Diamond via the usual end of year promo, but as one who does it the hard way I only hope that Hyatt will now make the Grand / regency club upgrades easier this year.

It was irritating to not have access to the meeting rooms or coffee. Particularly after getting to 30 plus stays by 4'th qtr. ALL in $200 plus rooms. (OK Hyatt Regency HK doesn't count ;-))

I have suggested to Julia previously that Hyatt should make a point of better differentiating its revenue generating customers . In fact points generated per year should give them an indicator of who spends money, who engages in phantom stays etc etc.

For those who think I'm being a dog in the manger, please understand that I'm happy to share. HOWEVER too many times this year I have been denied access to the club because of the new rules. Perhaps with less Diamonds on board, it will be less of an issue.

Actually, all of us are earning it the "hard" way this year. 25 stays for me, only a few phantom, and the bulk of the rest using my local Hyatt at published rates. My "real" stays have been at resorts & have generated quite a bit of revenue for the hotel & Hyatt.

In 2005 I'm going to spread out stays at my local Hyatt and am planning on earning them the hard way.

BTW - I was going to do the runs without the FFN promotion, which ended up being icing on the cake and cemented the decision.

FWIW - I don't really like using DTC. I only did it because of my lack of foresight in starting the process late in the year.
