Hyatt did the exact same thing last fall. S'how I got Diamond in the first place. Top-level elite flyers from all the major airlines were offered the comp (I think I had to stay three times within a 2-month period to make the comp permanent).

Nothing new here.

I had just checked my 2001 EXP membership guide and saw that perk of being an EXP. I called Gold Passport and they told me that the promotion had ended. I asked about the "stay X times for AA Exp and get Hyatt Diamond". Just as I was going to start staying at Hyatt too. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Do they offer it to the same people over and over and over again???

Maybe this would be an advantage to leaving certain things in maiden names and changing others, making it a lot more difficult to track if they already have an account.

Or having certain items sent to work and certain to home...

Nope, Delta, too. Got mine today in the mail, based on my DL Platinum status. Guess I'll have to do 4 room runs of some sort this fall.

Maybe mine because of DL Plat is in the mail - doesn't matter since I have it already anyways.

I received the e-mail for quick qualify. Haven't stayed at Hyatt this year yet. Everything has been at Marriott & Starwood plus other hotels with no programs.

Are all UA 1K members getting Diamond? Just want to see if I should wait for the card in the post or try and quick qualify?

Also, can someone post what the Diamond expiration date is for AAEXP / UA1K members who received the comp Diamond card?

Thanks.

Uh...it's actually even more widespread than that: I got the offer yesterday; it referenced my AMEX plat, rather than my Delta PM.

For those of you scoring at home, I have 6 Hyatt stays this year (as compared to 26 Starwood; it really just boils down to what hotels I prefer in the cities that I travel to most often, and that usually means Starwood).

FWIW w/r/t "dilution" (and this pops up on the Delta board--and I'm sure others--when there's a 2X Base Miles offer), in my case, anyway, it prolly isn't going to alter my behavior much.

I *did* check goldpassport.com for rates in Philly, and was surprised that they were competative with Starwood, which is unusual, in my experience.

I have a couple of work-related stays coming up at Hyatts, and surely I am going to attach them to the promo, but either I make it, or I don't based on whatever my needs, rather than Diamond status, dictate over the next couple of months.

It's be interesting to find out what impact these promos actually have on the #s of top tier folks.

Regards,

O/H

As a continuing Hyatt Diamond (the hard way), and a long time CO Platinum I just got the promo from Hyatt in the mail yesterday.
"In recognition of your CO OnePass Platinum Elite membership status, we are pleased to provide you with an instant Hyatt Diamond etc etc.....
Gee it would have been nice if I hadn't already requalified a couple of months ago http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I just got one referencing my Cactus Of The Month membership.

I got one too based on my EXP status. The closest I have been to a Hyatt in a long time is meeting my friend in the lobby of the Hyatt in Bellevue. Having said that, I just noticed a fine price of 165 euros for the CDG hyatt for the weekend I need. I may just try for this promo.

I would love the hyatt much more if there was a property in London.

I received the offer as a mere mid-level UA 1P (Premier Exec). Combined with the various bonuses, it did motivate me to start booking with Hyatt when cost-effective, even though I usually go Priceline. Diamond Club membership will be fun for a year anyway.

As the time for this great promo draws to a close, I need one more stay and am wondering if I check in on Dec. 15, and out on Dec. 16 if that would qualify as a stay for this promo? (The promo says four stays between Sept 15 and Dec 15.)

Basically, what counts -- the check-in date or the check-out date?

Great promo BTW...for the record, I'm CO Platinum and Hyatt Platinum with only 3 stays this year prior to getting the promo.

I'm Amex Plat and UA 1k, and I didn't get the offer ever. I guess it's because I am already Hyatt Platinum, they figure it would be wasted or something. Did not make me a happy camper. So I called up and asked -- they said no, but the Hyatt supervisor gave me a sort of informal challenge (which I will probably meet) for Diamond. Go figger.

Too bad I forgot the supervisor's name!

P.S. It seems like diamond status means more inside the U.S. than internationally?

I never got the offer as a DL PM but got it because I was Hyatt Plat - at least that's how I figured it.
