If you go up to departures level at svo there is sberbank with normal exchange rates (not sure about their business hours though)

So I'm thinking about heading to Russia for a week or so on pleasure. I've got some Hyatt points but looking at this property, it's a Cat 6 which seems steep for Moscow since there are a ton of good hotels for cheap. Is it worth it to do the 12.5k points + $150 or should I just book something else?

Cash rates at this property are among the highest in Moscow, I think that C+P rate is quite reasonable. E.g. Hilton is (much) cheaper, but Park Hyatt is much nicer hotel and in much more central location. I usually stay at Hilton, which is perfectly adequate for me, though.

The DoubleTree by Hilton is going for about $60-$70 a night and its ranked #6 on TripAdvisor. Seems like that should be adquate.

Review: Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow (Park Suite King + Connecting Park Twin Room)

Review: Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow (Park Suite King + Connecting Park Twin Room) (28 Photos)

Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow

We had a very enjoyable recent stay at Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow. We stayed in a Park Suite King (which we booked using a DSU) with a connecting Park Twin room (I hope this review will be useful, in particular, for those planning to share accommodation with family/friends).

Our pre-stay requests (by e-mail and phone) were handled professionally and efficiently by the hotel.

The associate who checked us in was very welcoming. We were escorted to our suite on the 10th floor.

Park Suite King

There are 18 Park Suites in the hotel (ranging from 70 to 90 sq m). They were last renovated in 2011-12.

Designed by Tony Chi, the Park Suite had a sleek and modern, yet homely, feel.

The living room was spacious:

Welcome fruit platter and gift (there was no welcome letter):

Welcome bottle of wine (this is the welcome gift for suite guests and not the Diamond amenity as we opted for the 1,000 welcome points):

There was also an Illy coffee machine:

View from the suite (facing the south):

Bedroom:

The mattress, duvet and pillow were very comfortable – we had a very restful night’s sleep.

All the controls in the suite were automated. The blinds were excellent – they didn't let any light through, so we were not woken up by the sunlight in the morning.

Bathroom:

There was also another entrance to the suite via the walk-through closet in the bedroom:

The room was well-appointed:

Breakfast

Breakfast is served in the Park Restaurant on the second floor from 6:30am to 10:30am (weekdays)/11am (weekends).

As Diamond members, the full Park Breakfast (buffet + one hot dish ordered off the menu) was complimentary.

The quality of the buffet food was amazing. The highlights were the red caviar, smoked salmon, white fish and eel. There was also a selection of continental breakfast options (bread, pastries, cereal, salad etc).

IMG_2364.JPG

The omelette which we ordered was fine.

Sparkling white wine and freshly squeezed juice were available.

The service was great – the staff were proactive in taking drinks orders and collecting dishes.

Quantum Spa and Health Club

The Quantum Spa and Health Club is situated on the fourth floor and is open from 5am to midnight (weekdays) and 7am to 10pm (weekends).

The gym is open 24 hours a day.

There is a 15-metre indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. It was the perfect place to relax at the end of the day.

DSCF9810.JPG

There is a poolside bar serving complimentary lemonade and lime juice. There was also a jug of iced green tea in the changing room.

The health club staff were very friendly.

Other facilities

There is an Armenian chapel on the 9th floor.

You can enjoy an amazing view of the city centre (Bolshoi Theatre, Duma and TsUM) from the Conservatory Bar terrace on the 10th floor:

Location

The hotel is located in the theatre district in the heart of Moscow with the Bolshoi Theatre, TsUM and many shops/restaurants in the surrounding area. The Red Square and Kremlin are less than 10 minutes away by foot.

The closest metro stations are Teatralnaya, Okhotny Ryad, Lubyanka and Kuzeniskiy Most.

Overall

We had a memorable stay at Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow. The service was excellent (all members of staff were attentive, courteous and willing to help). I would highly recommend this hotel.

Since I am not a diamond member, I was wondering if there are any cafes nearby that open up early and serve breakfast?

This is an awesome hotel! A family member spent a few weeks there last year -- had a little hiccup during check-in (staff wasn't familiar with Guest of Honor rules/benefits) but the rest of the stay was awesome and she was treated great. It's now her #1 Hyatt (she also loved GH Tokyo; not a fan of PH Tokyo).

FYI, the best bet for an economical stay would be either using Points+Cash rate or a "weekend" rate. Not sure "weekend" rate is offered year-round but, I believe, it was valid for arrivals Thursday or later and departure Tuesday or earlier. You, of course, can combine them

Ph is great but str is now cat 4 and a much better value on points in luxury category in moscow..

As for breakfast - there should be options nearby - coffemania, shokoladnitsa and similar cafes are everywhere...

any recent stay report as Diamond, especially after the launch of WOH?

(from the above review, it seems like i should apply a TSU to this booking.)

thanks in advance.

Somewhat dated info, but I stayed there in late 2017 on C & P, with a TSU. Given a large suite (see post 111), a bottle of wine, and free breakfast. First return visit since the renovations. Everything is pricy, as you might expect, including hotel transportation from the airport, which now is in the $135 to $150 range, depending on size of car. Great location.

hi, am staying there 6-7 times a year - and am globalist.

quality is always top notch, better service also than four seasons or ritz and location is great. price wise it's moscow-normal - but you can easily get great restaurants around or simply just accross in the tsum büro (last floor, a bit hidden, ask)

from airport, take a uber, it's 20 euros ...

enjoy moscow- city has improved a lot for restaurants and ease of getting around .

download yandex taxi or uber before - subway is now also in english

i haven't tried the HR ... but it's poor location -

locals enjoy meeting in the hyatt -

and the terrasse in the summer is the best

Does anyone know if any of the bathrooms have windows? Perhaps overlooking the Kremlin? Would love to know if any of the rooms or suites offer this perk?

The hotel is a bit more than 1 km from the Kremlin/Red Square--no views of those, I'm afraid. To get views of the Kremlin, you'd have to consider the FS, RC, or the very outdated National.
