How long for Avis to post GP points?
Does anyone have any experience in how long it takes for Avis to post Gold Passport points for rentals?

Since they switched from showing Hyatt to getting the credit from Avis, my wife has yet to get credit. Last rental she asked again and got the same story "we will look into to it for you!" Not an answer exactly, but we share your frustration

ranles ~ It was definitely easier to get your points when Hyatt credited them ... but on the other hand, you don't need to be staying at a Hyatt now to get the points, which is a big plus!
Unfortunately I was bone-headed and didn't take advantage of the 900 GP points per rental promotion Avis had when the first switched ...

Well, I just checked my account and 900 points from three rentals I did over about 3 weeks posted all at once, so it looks like it takes 6-8 weeks for Hyatt GP points to post from Avis rentals. I'm just glad to see they all posted without the need for any intervention on my part.

Yes, I'm well aware that this may set a record for the oldest thread bump of all time.
But then again, you know how much I love the search function.
Anyway, I'm still waiting for GP credit for an early May rental. Any experience regarding how much longer I should wait?

Cannot provide a substantial answer, but I also switched to GPP as the earning option for Avis rentals, because of the current triple GPP points promo.
I wait for credit for a rental in YVR from the end of May and TXL from early June.Normally Avis posts to my LH account within 7-10 days.
I have to admit though that Avis rentals used to have a 100% record showing up correctly on my accounts, but the percentage has been more like 50 % in 2004, so a request for credit has become normal for me, at least for Avis to LH M&M.

I'm also waiting for points from May. I've found they usually take 2-3 months to show up im my account - but they always do show up.
Check your reservation history on Avis.com for that reservation & make sure your GP number is there. If it is, you'll get them.... eventually

I too have waited for a long time for the Avis points. Once it took about 3 months with calls to CS at Avis who were rude and said I wouldn't get them. Three weeks later they appeared. OT, but I have changed to renting from National and getting NW points. Avis CS and staff have been just awful in the passt year.

I have no idea. In my case, I have to add the request after the rental. My rezzies are made by Amex via ITN, and I can't change the rez on the avis website because it was made by a TA. (Not even to add an FF program.) But it does claim that you can add them after the fact on the history page and you're supposed to get credit.
Maybe I should try crediting them to SPG next time, because I tend not to follow up on this stuff, but I always notice that there's no entries for the credits in my GP account.
There just aren't that many ways to earn extra GP points.
----
OK, I had 8 rentals in my rental history that didn't have a program assigned. I added GP to 4 of them and SPG to the other 4.
When I add them, it accepts them and it takes you to a screen saying that it takes 48 hours for them to issue the credits.

Not every Avis rental is eligible and I could not not find anyone who could explain how they select it. I submitted 8-10 requests on avis.com but only 2 ended up posted. It took at least a month.
This is what avis website has to say on this topic
Please Note: Rewards program points will be awarded on eligible rentals. Miles may not be earned on corporate rates, discounts, free, tour or certain travel industry rates. The reward program members of Qantas, Air New Zealand Airpoints Dollars, and Fly Buys should contact their program website for their latest points totals.

I do rent on corporate rates, and that might be it. I didn't think we had any restrictions on point earning. When I call or email them, I have gotten the points in the past.
