amazed...

tried to use my nights-after-nights certificate from last year--decided to drive somewhere in Florida. Miami and Coral Gables both were full, Orlando and Orlando Arpt both were available (unfortunately, Grand Cypress wasn't a participating property) (called 1/1 to stay night of 1/2) Was not that impressed with the Hyatt Orlando (I remember it from my first trip to Orlando 25 years ago) but it was a nice getaway. I'll be interested--I charged my services to the room folio, and the folio said the usual "this stay is credited to Gold Passport xxxxxxx". I wonder if this counts as a night's stay for Nights after Nights???

A pleasant surprise in the Hyatt program- it does count.

jamiel ~ In my experience using both standard awards and nights after nights stays is that they do count towards status and you get points for all your other charges to the rooms.

As mmgm pointed out, this is yet another nice touch of the Hyatt program.

I stayed at the Hyatt Dearborn earlier this year on a standard award and got 11 GP points for $2.25 in phone calls, but more important it counted as one stay and two nights toward status!

I think formally they are not supposed to apply but the computer doesn't seem to know any better

I'd leave this alone if I was you in case Hyatt wake up to this.

The official reply from Hyatt is that a "stay" is considered an official "stay" is a guest is checked in to the hotel and there
is any charge of $ .01 or greater to the room's folio. Any kind of free stay certificate will gain you "stay" and "night" credit as long as you have SOMETHING charged to your room. There is nothing to hide from, this is and has been standard procedure.

I guess the moral is you should always make at least one phone call!

Is this still the case?

Kudos for resurrecting oldest thread...

Whenever I've had award stays with zero charge, the HGP system treats it like it never happened, not even posting the diamond amenity. Whenever I've charged something to the room on an award stay, of course I didn't receive stay or night credit, but everything showed up as it should...

Perhaps others can comment about other zero charge stays (i.e. credit card nights, etc.)
