Mattress Run - $500 for 34K miles - Ideas?

I live near AUS, family near IAD, PIT, DFW, and LAS. I wanted to be a Platinum Ambassador with PC this year, so my diamond status with Hyatt is about to expire. I like Hyatt and will go to Hawaii next year. I want to remain diamond. I have 13 stays so far, and 5 booked for business in the next 2 months. I need 7 more.

Right now I am thinking: AAA free breakfest + SWA 1800 bonus + 1W bonus + stay 3 get 5K bonus + standard current diamond bonus (30%).

Those combined will net me 1000+1666+400 = 3066 GP and 1800 WN points per $62 + tax (or $70) night at the Hyatt Fair Lakes. I'd alternate nights for the next 2 weeks to make sure they count for "stays" not "nights". That's about $0.0145 (call it a-cent-and-a-half) per WN/GP. Rope in the +500 for Hyatt potentially not hooking up the 1W, and it's $0.013 CPM.

Is it gonna get any prettier, or should I drop the $500, for 21,500 GP and 12,600 WN? Any cheaper hotel deals/ideas in the areas I mentioned?

I don't think you can get the Southwest points AND the 30% Diamond point bonus.

Correct - choosing airline "miles" preclude base Gold Passport points (as well as the status bonus on that) - still get the Diamond Welcome amenity and the Possibilities(2) swept bonus though.

With the OP's question, I think it's a very good deal - with the possible exception that Fair Lakes is available for $70 ai every other night for the next 2 weeks (I've never checked but is that a weekend only rate or available "every" day - maybe since we're entering a slow period).

It's a weekend rate; I just did some dummy bookings during the week. The rates are >$100 during the week.

I booked three nights. Here is my calculation:

POINT TABLUATION
1w=1000
5k per 3 eligible= 1666
SWA 3x Points = 1800
Potential to Forget 1W=500
4466 = $0.01513 per point (4966= $0.136)

From my experience: Airfare is $200 for 14,000 SWA Points = $.0142 CPM
From my experience: Hotel is $300 for 22,000 Hyatt GP Points = $.0136 CPM

Net actual cost = 67.58 x 3 = $202.74
Net real value = 5400 SWA ($76.68); 8000 Hyatt ($108.80) = $185.48
Net loss/gain = ($17.26)

Once you select miles as your partner choice, you will not get the points for your stay, thus not getting the diamond bonus points.

Isn't there a current stay promotion, for Hyatt points? Not sure if that's figured into your calculations or not. Stay 3, get 5k points?

I'd go for the Hyatt points myself, unless the airline bonus was really worth that much more. I usually get 2.2-3 cpp for Hyatt point redemptions.

Where do the 1w=500 points come from? Is this if they do not post automatically? Thanks.

That's because it's a new program. There was a recent thread on the subject.

I would say $500 will worth it, if it takes you less than 1 hour to run the hotel.
