Problem signing up??

I'm trying to sign up a friend of mine to GP, I first tried 3 days ago, received the "Welcome to GP" email but with the Account# left blank in the email and I also couldn't log in. Then I tried again today and got the same problem - received welcome email but no account# and I can't log in with his newly created account although no errors occur during the sign up process.
What's wrong?
