Most hotels pay Expedia companies 25% commission. I think, but am not sure, that large corporations like Marriott and Hilton pay less. I have worked for a couple of independent hotels, and they pay 25%.

This. The 18% coupon is entirely non-applicable to chains so while they may not be taking a loss, they're not making much if anything either.

A 25% commission seems extortionate for the actual services rendered, but what do I know. I assume booking.com works for much less (which explains their popularity among smaller properties)?

BTW, I had to call Cheap Tickets for the first time today. I assume they use the same call centers as Expedia, but I don't know. Customer service was poor. And all I wanted to do was to shorten my booked stay by one day. Surprised that the website didn't just have this functionality.

Oh, well. I'm only booking there because of the pricing.

Of course it's extortionate. But the entire booking space has been consolidated into a few players, the two biggest of whom (expedia and priceline) have near duopoly position, there's not much choice to fight back.

Cheaptickets is owned by Expedia. The only thing unique to booking on cheaptickets is the name on your receipt. Everything else is shared with Expedia.

That's not the case; their coupons are usable on chains. Not sure if it's an entire chain or determined by the property.

Hey folks,

We seem to have gotten off topic. Please stay focused on posting codes and promos in this forum.

If youd like to have a discussion about commissions, feel free to start a new thread here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onlin...-agencies-204/

amoma.com
10% off with "HALLOWEENHOTEL" until 31/10/2016 at 23:59:59 UTC.

Tried with a few hotels and it worked.

EDIT:
It seems it doesn't work unless following the link on their FB page (which I don't know if I can post here), which anyway leads to higher prices in my case...

Has anyone tried logging into Hotels.com with a different IP address, and unlocking "secret prices?" I was trying to book Le Blanc Spa Resort Cancun last week and price was coming to about $3,500 on every site. Coupons were not accepted. Then I did my little IP trick, logged into Hotels, and the price came down to $3,075. Hotels was also offering a promotion where they added an extra night reward. Pretty sweet deal.
