You need some minimum days of membership and minimum number of posts; I can't find the specific rules right now, but it may be 90 days/90 posts for wikis.

Someone can correct me...

Anyway, you're well on your way to that goal! Thanks for posting and helping out.

This is good but I find that travelocity has jacked up its prices compared to other sites, so even with the discount the rate is equivalent to what these other sites are offering. Not worth it in my opinion.

I got a better rate (savings of $70) at asiatravel.com for the same hotel and without the $50 discount.

I have booked accommodation on Travelocity several times because there were great rates (after applying a promo code). But sometimes other sites offer much better prices.
This is a BIG GAME and we are all players, and to win the jackpot you always need to compare prices from different OTA, imho.

Thanks for posting this. This offered me some pretty sweet deals on hotels I need in Asia. I have never bothered with Hotwire before because I never thought their discounts justified the opaque conditions, but actually on the hotels I was booking they pretty much tell you the hotel - it says "The last person to book got ____________" on the booking page of some properties. I called them to ask what that meant and they said it meant 80-90% chance you will get the same. And I did. Not for everyone but big % discount for lower cost locations.

You can usually find the same hotel for less and with better cancellation conditions. HotWire/Priceline/LastMinute.com deals are often higher priced or very restrictive. And a code/cashback can usually beat the rate offered. There's a load of threads on here about it. I do agree that finding out what the hotel is fun though.

If I want to book 3 consecutive nights and take advantage of this discount, can I make 3 separate bookings for 1 night?

I have to kind of disagree with this. Lower price hotels for 1 night, and the Hotwire $30 off is a much better deal than you will find anywhere else. Example: $45 a night hotel in Vegas for only $15. Higher price hotel, or more than 1 night, then yes, the code/cashback will often yield better results.

Very true, I usually book hotels with an extra 0 on the end. $30 off $150 is less than the 10% a code gets you, plus 5 to 15% cashback.

I dont like the look of that HotWire (Expedia) $30 deal, I cant see the T&C ANYWHERE and after last week, im cautious about trusting reposted deals if I cant find the original info. Even the blogs are just reposting the link back to slickdeals, the link on Hotwire doesnt lead me to the T&C, anybody got a link to them?

I will say again though, in my personal experience, I have always without fail found a better deal than the 'Hotwire secret deals' for example 5 star hotel in south dublin is the Radisson blu st helens (the only 5* hotel in the area), which can be booked for 80 euros. Hotwire rate 163 (+ 26 euros off) Crap rate. Dublin st stephens green secret hotel 5* is the Shelbourne at 163 euros, you can book it for 129 at the moment with free cancellation. On 5 star rates the HotWire/Priceline/LastMinute.com rates are massively inflated to start with. Booking direct would give points, upgrade (if you have status) and give you generous cashback.

But if you were booking a hotel for less than $50 at a time, one night at a time so not to split the discount, it would be a good deal for you... if they honour multiple bookings by the same guest under different accounts?

Yeah "usually" is the operative word. I thought the same and stopped even checking Hotwire a while back for that reason. But the well-reviewed four-star hotel I booked was not available anywhere else for under $100, and I got rooms that worked out to almost a 70% discount off that price (and maybe 6% cashback too if it posts through Ebates with the $30 off deal) with this deal so I'm happy enough to take the time to thank the OP. I did notice however that many other deals at other properties are not so great, just a few sweet spots. Lesson learned (to me anyway) is to always have lots of different resources and options and try em all.

I'm not seeing CODE for $30 off Hotwire. How (at what point) does $30 come off? Has anyone encountered quantity limit?
