Btw....

Sol Melia hotels tend to be pretty bad in my experience for posting to FF accounts.

Pretty bad has to be very bad when rates are 30Euros a night though.

If the 2for1 offer becomes available for Valencia on the 1st/2nd March I will be lunging at it.

EDIT TO ADD - Sorry, I misunderstood your remark.
Are points/miles even given under these offers? (Other Hotel programs usually say rates like these are exempt under their T&Cs)

The thing about their Rome hotel -- and many of their others -- is that the location isn't all that great. These are tour bus/convention hotels, so you sacrifice location to stay at them. You're dependent on their shuttle buses to get you into the heart of the city.

I'm going to Rome this winter too (obviously off-season), and I've had good luck finding deals on small hotels on sites like kayak. I've also got some other suggestions if you need it.

Of course, under this deal, the Melia prices are very competitive with other deals if their locations work for you.

This may be true about Rome, but in Spain they have so many properties that you can take your pick. More than a dozen in MAD, 7 in VLC, 4 in SVQ and so on...

I don't know their T&C, but I can confirm, that I got Sol Melia MaS points even for very, very low rates.
