There's always a way.

Sometimes you just have to think outside the box to find it.

I am not sure showing up with your AK-47 in order to force them to honour it, would be appreciated.

AK-47 is overkill. Clark Griswald got an entire amusement park to himself with a BB gun.

I have been getting e-mails concerning my reservation inquiring my flight information. Does anyone aside from me having similar e-mail request from their OTA?

Awesome! Did he force them to honour it or did it not get cancelled in the first place?

Don't remember the specifics but when everyone else's got cancelled his didn't.

Booked his flights close to the days then got approached by the hotel. Then the game began, he just ignored the emails until close to departure.

They offered a discount 2500 for the week if I'm not mistaken which would still be a 50% discount more or less. Said he wasn't interested, arrived and everything went fine.

That's the very short version haha.

He even took some UK newspaper subscription which allowed him to get an upgrade to an over water villa with a private pool which they honoured as well. Well done

Prices on site are ridiculous though. Glass of wine was 15usd +10% gov tax + 12% service fee. Airport to hotel was 250USD per person etc,

Lucky guy.

Prices at the resort sound about right for Maldives.

Very lucky guy. This could have turned very badly though.

Recently had such a hotel mistake rate... No news from the hotel until we arrive then hotel refused to give us a room unless we paid the difference between what was already prepaid and the normal rate. Called OTA which said they would refund the difference, still €250/night... been calling and mailing them since but still no refund --'

One lucky guy and one extremely unlucky guy IMHO.While we all run the risk of "anything could happen at check in" on these special rates I think it is important to stress that what unfortunately happened to you is very much the exception .

I hope you get some accountability from the OTA involved and are rightfully reimbursed .

Perhaps the delay in "doing the right thing" has been caused by some behind the scenes bickering between the hotel and the OTA about who was to blame ?

Whatever I hope things are eventually resolved to your satisfaction.
