Super Bowl 2014 - New York City $259.00 or 12,000 SPG points

For those looking to book rooms for next year's Super Bowl, the Sheraton Tribeca has their rooms listed for $259.00 or 12,000 SPG points per night for a four night stay checking in Jan 30 (Thursday) and checking out Feb 3 (Monday). I'm sure this is an oversight, as everything else in the city is listed at $600/night or above with some as high as $2999/night. It is a prepaid rate, so make sure you plan to go.

Conrad New York is available same dates for 145k points on AXON rate. HGI Times Square too. Another oversight because the other 31 Hiltons in NY are blacked out for rewards during these dates. One day cancellation policy.

If you book using SPG points, you can cancel without penalty.

Do you really get the points back if you use them on a pre-paid rate and cancel, or does it not matter?

The points are on a points rate, not a pre-paid rate. And, yes, they are refundable.

The Hyatt 48 Lex now can be booked for Friday - Monday for as low as 299/night or 329 for the Lexington studio as someone mentioned earlier. I just wanted to add that it looks like this rate is fully refundable, so you could make a speculative booking. I know there is no way I can afford to go the game, so I'll pass. But if you would ever consider it, this is a cheap price for a fairly nice hotel in Manhattan during the Super Bowl weekend. Especially considering you could cancel if your team does not make it I don't have enough points in my Hyatt account to see if you could book an award for those nights or not.
